It is Pardus !
This lovely Linux distro worked right away like charm during the quest in saving my archive.
I tried SLAX first. The first thing I had to overcome was the writeability problem of my other harddisks. As soon as I was able to overcome this problem I noticed that the folders and directories having Turkish characters in them were impossible to process, e.g. copying, moving, renaming etc.
Nobody could answer about what to do, so that I had to come up with another idea and I tried Pardus, which had gone a bit popular in Turkey some time ago. The Live CD image is a whopping 680 MBs, but definitely worth the downloading.
This magic booted without any problems, took me to its desktop right away after easily recognizing and configuring my network adapter ! I was able to join the internet without any hassle; connecting MSN and such through its bundled Kopete IM program. I'm writing this post to you through Pardus' Firefox.
And for my real problem : This is magic indeed. There are absolutely no problems with neither copying nor displaying the files that were trapped in that hdd.
Zero configuration, zero hassle, pure comfort without any install, any mess with your computer.
All hail Pardus ! All hail Linux !
It seems that finally my whole unfortunaty is over. I bow before all you great people here making me feel even closer with your indispensible support, than the ones I see their faces everyday.
