Default Help on my campaign (noobie)

I'm the English on turn 38 and I have some issues.

The areas I control are: Ireland, England and Rennes, Caen, Angers and Antioch.

I haven't gone into Scotland, I was about to then I joined the Crusades.

I took Antioch easily and was awarded with a bunch of points. My general in the Crusades has awesome stats, all one or two away from being full. He has a Templar and Hospitallar in his entourage. He also was awarded the Spear of Destiny. Basically he's awesome. BUT, hes 51 and hes going to die soon and everytime I leave Antioch, they revolt. I want to take Jerusalem and get the Templar to build a guild house in my faction but everytime I leave Antioch they revolt and it takes forever to get to Jerusalem, and my General might die either on the way or just after I take the city. Furthermore, I have no seige equipment as they deserted on the way over. So what do I do?

Try to keep your general alone in Antioch and send the army headless to Jerusalim. If the general is not enough to keep order in the city recruit 2-3 peasant units.

And remember - everybody dies sooner or later

You might not need catapults etc to take a city. I was able to take Antioch with just a ram and three towers, two of which were burned on the way.

Thanks fellas, now I'm just wondering if I can transfer members of my Generals entourage and/or his item (the spear of destiny) to another, younger faction General?

Is Antioch a city or a castle in your game? It it's a city, try lowering the tax rate some. Rioting is caused by low public order. A governor with high piety and chivalry increases public order, which is probably why you get a huge drop when you move him out. Garrisons increase public order, as do certain buildings (walls, barracks, town hall line, sanitation line, inns and churches). The major causes of unrest are spies, bad traits on the governor, high taxes, and religion. Religion is likely your major cause. I expect the majority of the population is Islamic, right? Build a catholic church there and upgrade it. Build priests there and keep them in the region. Those will slowly convert the populace to catholicism. That will reduce the religious unrest.
Age and treachery will defeat youth and skill every time.

Was just about to say the same thing, Quillan. Its almost certainly religious unrest, so build churches and priests there, but just to make sure always check to find out whats causing the most unrest by opening the city construction window, then clicking the little button at the bottom left with the up & down arrows on it.
