What often happens, simply because of the logistics of production and preparing for distribution, is that the bugs discovered during beta get addressed in the first patch to be produced as close to launch as possible.

It takes time to create the disks, packaging and stockpile for shipping so that part of production is usually well underway during the latter part of a beta.

It is quite possible that the coders have been working on a patch for the last month or more already.

That's my understanding of the general process anyway. I could be wrong, I often am.

CA hasnt said a word. My guess is that something came up during testing and they had to delay the patch (again). Some kind of communication from CA would be much appreciated though.

I saw a CA dev walking through the valley today... I saw no laptop attached to his waist like in typing of the dead... i therefore deduce he and therefore all of CA are NOT working on the patch and are therefore slacking off and must be "dealt" with.

"dealt" may include, ramming the gates of CA studios with small but very angry walrus, lobbing small rodendrum bushes into windows from strategiically placed trechebuts and of course storming the office complex with my crack team of ninja seals.

A release date on a patch is not going to extend the revenue stream. Therefore silence is golden. Or silver. Or whatever colour you wish to call it.

Yes they have. CA told us even before game launch that the passive AI bug had been found and fixed but too late to make it into the released game. They promised a patch soon after game launch to remedy that.

However, since then they have used the extra time to fix other bugs, and additionally they have been surfing the forums to look for reported bugs and asking players to report bugs so they can include fixes in the patch. So the first patch is obviously going to be more ambitious than they initially intended.

Also, CA said the patch shouldn't be too far away, but we'll know it is close when they release a patchlist for it, which they haven't done yet.

So the answer to the question when will the patch be released? is, after the patchlist readme has been posted. So keep an eye out for that.

Did you see this post by Palamedes in the bugs tread?

CA asking for a list of reported bugs

It was posted on the 25th, so they either have something ready and want to check if something important is left out, or they are still working on it and the original release dates for the patch are no longer valid.
