    anyone? ive never had a clue about this as it doesnt seem to be related to command stars

    The Ludus Magna had a thread on this, IIRC. I have a vague memory it concluded that traits which affected "security" increased bodyguard size too.

    I was under the impression that command rating was a big factor in this. My two best generals are 6 and 8 stars, and they have 63 and 68 men in their unit normally, in comparison to the usual 40.

    econ is spot on, personal security traits are wot affects body guard size mostly. command possibly does too, but have a look at a gen who has had some assasination attempts against him, and he will have a bigger body guard. Same as rome. COmmand may have some influence on it, but def personal security is the biggin

    Reading the LM thread, influence also had a role (I am not sure command did). But there is no influence in M2TW. Perhaps command has replaced influence as a factor? The way to test would be to mod the game's starting generals.
