    Default Not enough time

I started a campaign with Denmark last night and after 55 turns I had only conquered 5 provinces. At this rate I'll run out of time. I like to take my time in when the situation warrants it, and this one did. I'm definantly going to have to mod the campaign to be a bit longer. Anyone else find the campaign to be a bit short or rushed so far?

I know that playing as the germans I have almost completely wiped out Denmark in 50 turns and that was while at constant war with several other factions. Seems to me that all those cool special units Denmark gets (like viking raider etc) are seriously under powered, seeing as they usually loose to my militia spearmen.

I play really slowly. Farthest I've gotten is 112 turns. Have 24 provinces. I am on the right track I believe though. If I extended it it'd take months of playing and I'd never get to the year 1300.

I am on my first campaign as the English, turn is about 165. Looking at maybe another 40 before the game ends. My first thoughts when i heard 200 some turns was it was not enought time. Also the character aging and the movement distances are really not realistic in the time frames they are talking about. But as I am nearing the end, it seems to be a good "prediction" on the part of CA as to how long the game lasts. I think it took me about 100 turns to get to 12 (and develop them as well), but the more territory you take, the faster the action and more armies you can field at one time. It does feel a little rushed though near the end. But 200 turns is very doable.

After this campaign and maybe a few others, I plan on modding the time myself to give more development time for my cities. I will probably take a look at the build times later as well, dont want to increase it to much, but want to make it a little harder to tech up before the end of the game (going to change to 2 turns a year)

Yeah, if youre doing a full campaign you would have to average 1 province every 5 turns in order to win by the end of the game. Bit of a blitzkrieg required.

For those of us that like to take their time a bit more its worth modding the turn rate down from 2 years/turn to 1 year/turn or even 0.5 years/turn.

And i thought 165 and unfinished was slow.

It's taken me about 15-20 hours of playing so far, though the end is in site, should happen about turn 190.

Is it really 2 years per turn? Even for the small campaign? Thats insane. I loved STW for the four turns per year, showing each season and how the crops turned out.

Me too! I am on my first campaign at turn 55. I am no where near being done, I see turn 200 being weeks away I love to play slowly and inspect each province after each turn. These people who are talking about 3rd campaign as Egyptians, I don't understand how quick they must play...

Well I have no doubt I could win a campaing in 75 or so turns, but it wouldn't be fun. I like taking my time and building up my settlements, and also allowing the computer factions to get going and build up some momentum as well so I have a challenge. I also want some time to spend in the Americas to have some wars over there and actually benefit from trade over there. I just don't want the campaign to have to be 600 turns in before I hit the late period.

Ive found the opposite problem i always finsih too quickly. this means i dont really get to see the alte units. ive just finished as the poles on h/h im not sure the exact date but i think it is around 1200 and the mongols never invaded.

the best way to keep your empire safe and make money is constant expansion.

Well, it always depends on what faction I'm using and what strat I need to use correspondingly. If I'm the HRE I would blitz like crazy until I had all of Western Europe. If I m playing as say, Spain, I would hurry and take the Iberian peninsula, then take it real slowly after that. It all depends on what faction I'm using though.

I just modded my game so that I'm advancing 1 year per turn, but the characters are ageing once every 2 turns. I'll see how I like it and mod it accordingly.

I switched the time scale to 1.00 immediately after completing installation, I hadn't even started the game up yet, haha.

I'm finding the campaign is progressing perfectly. It's 1200 now and I've already taken 30 provinces and have quite a few large, experienced armies. Right now, I'm just trying to get an experienced fighting force together before the Mongols show up.

I like to take my time too, and I like sitting around in long periods of peace building up. Unfortunately I haven't been allowed much peace as the Turks, but it's been good nontheless.

    I'm playing the Turks.

The Byzantines attacked me right when the campaign started, and the Egyptians soon after. Then the Russians attacked my castle at Tblisi. The Egyptians are destroyed, but I'm still facing skirmishes against the Russians and Byzantines, who I don't really feel like finishing off because of their impossible-to-defend positions. Between their armies, random naval battles, and huge crusader armies coming to hang in Jerusalem, I haven't had much time for peace.

I've only played as two I beat game as germans and I'm halfway through as the moors. I tried venice and spain but never got far. As germans I beat game at 222 turn and it was pefect, just right level of challenge, slow enough to enjoy some time and pick my battles.

As moors I originally thought I could never do it. Like most even after conquering Iberian pennisula I only had like 13 provinces or so at turn 50 or 60. Once I started declaring war on some people though and building up armies I am doing fine. No need to blitz really, I find one or two cities max is plenty of units to take on one computer city if you play the battles personally.
