Default When does America open up?

I'm going to mod my game again and make the time progression to .5 and that means that the turns are 6 months instead of 2 years. With that in mind comes my question.....if I play at this rate (nearly a 900 turn campaign) does that mean the Americas and the Late age come in the 1400's still, OR could the late age and exploration come just as the game progresses (which would probably be in 1200's). Anyone who understands what I'm saying lend me a hand here plz

Every event, such as the Discovery of the Americas, the discovery of gunpowder, and the arrival of the Mongols and Timurids occur on a specific date, set in the descr_strat file. It is not scaled to be in line with how many turns you set the campaign to be. So yes, you'd probably be waiting 700 or more turns before journeying to the Americas.

Also, might I add that there are no 'ages' in the campaign at all. It's not like MTW where units from ages you aren't yet in are locked off until 1215 and 1305 even if you have the requirements built. In M2, you just build right down a sequence of builings that lets you get get new units. It's just that the population growth and build times are scaled so that you shouldn't get high units till around 1215 and late until 1305. So setting the timescale down will throw everything off. For example, as the Turks, I have the time scale set to 1.00, and I'm already recruiting late-period units like Janissaries and Qappakulu even though its only 1190.

Argggg, what a pain in the butt I guess on that note I'll keep my campaign as 1 turn equaling 1 year and have characters age 1 year every two turns (years). Anyway, thanks for the reply.

I'm having the same problem, and I looked at the descr_strat file. I couldn't find it. There is an events file that describes some of the events, but I couldn't find it there either.

Could you tell me which line of code this is so I can modify it, if that's even possible?

Oops, the events are in the descr_events.txt file, not the descr_strat. Events is in the same folder Strat is in. I'm not sure how the date works though, it has them set to double and triple digit numbers rather than actual years. It might be turn number according to a 2.00 scale campaign. maybe someone else knows for sure.

    In the Descr_events.txt
the events are done on turn numbers
if 2 numbers given its a range that they can occur in.
    for example
gunpowder is given in turns 160 to 170
I set it at 50 60 so I get access to gunpowder before the buildings to use it are made
