Aye if I use this word f***, you know what I mean. If I call you a c*** you know what I mean. This is just as offensive as anything else, personally I prefer swearing to be censored into this: %$#@

Partially censored words are still a no-no in the Guides forums.
Enter the Guides forum and swear at your own risk. I WILL be watching.Originally Posted by frogbeastegg

I'm personally not bothered by swear words, but the simple fact is that we do have kids that visit the forum. Now while I'm sure that most (if not all) of them are well aware of "naughty" words, there's no reason why they should be exposed to them more than necessary....and it's certainly not necessary in a game forum.![]()
In addition, the less swearing there is, the more civil and pleasant this place remains. The Org is easily one of the nicest and most genteel forums I've ever come across; and I, for one, would prefer to keep it that way.![]()

If you break the rules, you get punished. Like me, I swore several times, and I got warnings. Although, I said s***, and I didn't say the whole word, and I still got warned, and I fought with Mith about it, makes no sense, but still Dave.
The Org has, since before I joined, had a certain culture. That culture was based in large part around mature, respectful and intelligent posting. Posts were meant to be articulate and readable. Lack of grammar, poor spelling, incorrect capitalisation, ignoring of punctuation, these were all things that were against the culture of this forum. The release of RTW saw an influx of new patrons who went against this culture, but the ones who've stuck around have kinda been assimilated by the collective
Swearing comes under the heading of "Against the culture of The Org". Swearing does not promote reasoned, intelligent, articulate discussion. No-one thinks you are big or clever for swearing.
FWIW, I have had one post edited for (very mild) swearing. But you know what? I didn't post a big wah about how terribly I'd been treated, the mods are evil, yadda yadda yadda. I accepted what the mod had done, accepted that, by a rigorous, exact interpretation of the forum rules I had over-stepped the mark, and got on with life.
"I request permanent reassignment to the Gallic frontier. Nay, I demand reassignment. Perhaps it is improper to say so, but I refuse to fight against the Greeks or Macedonians any more. Give my command to another, for I cannot, I will not, lead an army into battle against a civilized nation so long as the Gauls survive. I am not the young man I once was, but I swear before Jupiter Optimus Maximus that I shall see a world without Gauls before I take my final breath."
Senator Augustus Verginius
