    Default Family Tree issues

I was just starting my first campaign as Sicily, when I noticed one of the default generals named Alberto is not on the family tree... Is this a bug or is there some strange purpose for this?

I have noticed this as well. I put it down to having generals like in MTW. The have stats but are not part of the family tree. It would be nice if the Family Tree had noticable differences on the campaign map though. Anyone else have theories on this?

The HRE has 2 Generals too, who arent family members.

The main difference is, as they arent in the family tree, they cant produce offsprings.

But I was able to get them as man of the hour and adopt them into the royal family.

I think this is just a simple balancing act. The idea is that some factions need more than just a few generals and if they would be part of the family tree, the family would grow too fast as the growth is sort of exponential. So you get some generals to start with who will not "bloat" your family too fast later on. Later the situation is easily fixed.

It seems that there is no real limit on the amount of family you can have, as I have a general for 80% of my settlements plus a few warring generals and as the english, I control the british isles and the old territories of france.
Total war games played so far:
    STW, MTW, MTW:VI, RTW, MTW2, ETW, STW2
