    Default Fatigue and militia units...

My Southern French army consisting mostly of militia spearmen and peasant archers + the general and a unit of mailed knights attacked rebels near Marseille. Once the battle-map opened, the rebels appeared on the top of Mt. Blanc of sorts...

My first thought was: I will have to lose another battle because my troops wouldn't be able to get to the enemy on top of some impassable rock. However, clicking on the enemy started everyone moving this time. But here comes the cookie... Half-way up the mountain every single one of my militia and peasant archer units was exhausted and waivering (marching at the regular walk-speed), while my "hardy" knights and the General were still fresh. So, it seems, there is really BIG fatigue difference between untrained and trained units in MTW2.

On another note, the battle itself was interesting: The AI actually did not just stand there but started manouvering through the rocks (exhausting their units in turn). As a result, my militia army had to crawl up and down the mountain several times. The fresh knight units saved the day though.

    I noticed the exhaustion also.

Actually one of my first mods, when we can, will be to reduce the stamina of heavy cavalry. They are definitely supermen with the high stamina.

Well, climbing a mountain causes massive exhaustion, even for professional soldier types like sergeants.

    Well

It'd be logical to have Untrained MILITIA to have WAY less endurance than MOUNTED professionals

Also remember, that if you make the climb in stages (allowing time for the units to rest) you'll keep the troops from exhausting themselves.

I agree with Maizel, I don't think that some overweight Farmers, drunken Bartenders and crazy Pitch collectors are going to win the Medievalympics anytime soon.

I guess, my benchmark was RTW where there was no noticeable difference between "hardy" and "normal" units in terms of stamina. In MTW 2, the difference is noticeable (at least on VH battle setting), which I like.
