You use Imans that have more then 4 or maybe its 5 piety, Imans have an icon at the bottom of the screen when you right click their portrait. You can hire some special Jihad units, Ghazis and some other ones which i cannot spell heh

ghazis and the equals for pilgrims but muslims and i think that the region you want the jihad must have a percentage of muslim religion (sorry i dont remember exactly the number)

Ghazi's are like Crusader sargents. Pilgrims are the same as Mutatawii'a. But I've only ever called the one Jihad as Egypt.

No they aren't. But they could very well be a merc unit. Like Swiss pikes are now.
