    Default crusades and jihads

has anyone else noticed that you tend to go on a lot of crusades/jihads but they are generally never aimed at you?

for example, i was playing the english and i went more than a few crusades but i never saw a jihad happen... and when i was playing as the egyptians i went on several crusades against various cities in the holy land and took over much of the eastern map, but never did i recieve a crusading army in my lands... i don't think that there was ever a crusade against me and i find that really weird since i had converted jerusalem to 100% islamic

anyone else notice this or is it just me

and also, does anyone know why troops desert during crusades or is it random?

    cheers

What's your difficulty level ? I play turkish, and ALL crusades have been directed at me. 1st on Antioch (not Jerusalem ??), then 2 or 3 (can't remember) on Constantinople.
The Moors have answered to my 3rd Jihad, but I haven't seen their army...

Playing as Venice (m/m, 100+ turns) and just took Constantinople. Within 3 turns, jihad has been called against me. The Mongols - who had been pestering Egypt till now - decided they needed a new mouse to play with and promptly joined. I'm feeling quite scared by their presence across the straits so I've decided to block both crossings with a fleet and wait and see whether they can work out how to get me now. Meanwhile every castle I own is pumping out Mounted Sergeants to deal with their hordes. It's mildly tense to say the least.

Dirka dirka Mongolian jihad! Yes, they are Islamic, so they can join in a jihad. I had two different jihads called against me when I played Byzantium. The first was against Constantinople, the second was against Jerusalem after I owned it. The Mongols joined the second one, as they were around by that time. Seriously, that was one of the best things that happened to me against the Mongols in that game. Their jihad generals kept having fatal accidents. Interesting, that. They lost three full stacks of troops because their generals died and they couldn't get another one to carry on the war. Side note- the Mongols didn't hire mercenaries when they joined the jihad; they just used their own troops. One of those stacks was composed of the 6 xp troops they originally invaded with. Ouch!

I was playing as the Turks and i was trying a new tactic basicly rush towards Byz lands and get as many regions as possible, i took evrything except Thessalonika and corinth in just a few turns. I was not expecting any Crusades towards my lands cause the Pope usually goes for Antioch or Jerusalem first but to my surprise the Crusade was called on Constantinople heh i never even had time to build up my army or the settlements. I keept fighting Crusades aimed for Constantinople for the entire game, i beat all the stacks that came but it got so boring having to fight a new stack on the same settlement every turn so i quit. I should have taken some screens was kinda fun to see 5-7 stacks suround the city each waiting for its turn.

I've had to fight off two Crusader armies as the Eqyptians and a third one, I believe, is stuck somewhere out of my sight. All part of the same "crusade call" from the Pope.
