    Default Unknown Cardinal traits

Hello All! Long time player, lurker; first time poster.

Does anyone know what the extra traits/retinue members for bishops and cardinals do? One of my cardinals has the Witch Hunter in his retinue. It provides +1 Piety and -1 Unorthodoxy. And the cardinal also has as a trait, Enemy of Heresy, which is +2 Piety, +1 Eligibility, +2 Purity, and +2 Violence. I can't seem to find any mention of what those extra things do. I was guessing eligibility had to do with becoming pope, and maybe violence had to do with calling crusades. Any thoughts?

Piety is the basic trait. I believe orthodoxy is the chance of becoming a heretic. Eligibility is for becoming a cardinal or pope. I'm not sure what purity or violence would be.

I think alot of those hidden attributes only really come into play if the cardinal is elected pope in which case itll affect how he reacts to different situations.

My guess is that a pope high in orthodoxy will require his factions to build more churches and recruit more priests than one with low orthodoxy.

One with high violence is probably more likely to call a crusade and will probably react slower with punishments if two catholic factions declare war on eachother.

Eligibility probably has to do with the chance of a priest being appointed a cardinal. All else equal, one with higher eligibility is more likely to be appointed the position than one with lower.

Purity probably has to do with how equally the pope treats the different factions. One that is more pure probably treats them all more equally while one that is less pure is probably more easily bought with gifts and will more likely side with the factions he likes in disputes rather than who may actually be right.

Again these are just my guesses but i think theyre pretty logical. Itd be interesting for someone to do some more research into this.

I think Violence deals with how much of a chance the priest has of successfully charging a Heretic. Eligibility seems to infer something with being made a Cardinal or Pope. For Orthodoxy and Purity, I think one means their chance of turning into a heretic if they fail to prosecute one, and the other is their chance of turning heretic in a high-heresy land, but I don't know which is which.
