Lol ok so i was just playing my Moors Campaign, crusing along smashing spain and conquring iberia. im about 50 turns in i get the faction destroyed message for.... FRANCE!!! zomg, i was cut i was looking forward to killing off the french after i was finished in iberia. so wondering who had torn them to peices, i toggle FoW off and take a look around europe, to my suprise all france's provinces have gone rebel, what the! the on closer inspection i see no less than 5-6 inqusitors wandering the rebel provinces, thats right, france was burned at the stake, by the papacy lolol.

i was also very impressed when the other factions started charging out to conquor the new rebel provinces.

    Cheers Knoddy

Ahh... It was only a matter of time until a faction was killed by inquisitors. Or at least until we got it reported here.

    But that is still crazy.

At least the other factions scrambled to get the rebel provinces. That shows a will and proper AI.

There might be a legit reason for the Inquisition there. In my Spanish game, I see lots of inquisitors roaming around inside eastern France (they hold Paris, Rheims, Metz, Dijon, Bern and Marseilles in this game). They aren't bothering me, so I wasn't paying that close attention, but I dropped a spy in Paris, and they are at 27% heresy! Their other provinces are similarly high, all in the 20s. I don't know if it's random, or if it's just the way the AI works, but the AI European powers aren't doing a good job of containing heresy, much less stamping it out.

It seems that the AI for some factions does not build churches, priests or anything to contain heresy in their regions.

And it's the inquisitors hunting in those regions that hurt your peope if you conquer the region.

Noticed that the Turks have herecy at bad levels too. Their lands have become a nice 'proving ground' for my priests. Not only do their convert muslims, they also battle heretics (both the units and the people).

In my English (H/H) campaign, I concentrated on defeating the French early. But while they were around, I saw 3 inquisitors spring up in French lands. 2 in particular were hovering around Toulouse where the French general was Somename The Malevolent, with super low piety & high dread. France also had a lousy rep with the pope.

Because of the paranoia here about Inquisitors crushing all your generals, I worked hard to train up assassins that could kill the inquisitors and eventually took them all out, but one was hanging out in English occupied Toulouse for several turns, and my +6 dread +3 piety govenor remained unburnt.

I wonder if the Inquisitors just have something against France! All the people reporting how intolerable they are, I wonder if they are all playing as the French. Certainly, as worried as I was about it, it's turn 55 and I've yet to endure a single trial by inquisitor.

I may be mistaken, but I seem to remember factions reemerging in the original MTW. I thought that was pretty cool.
