When I was reading up on the battle this little bit of info struck me as well. When I was writing it up I thought I might break up the "purely AAR" and insert some little roleplaying tidbits like the Breton's control of the Norman left flank, or 'pretend' that the archers in-game were a mix of both crossbowmen and archers. In restrospect, I might have covered the vast multi-cultrual nature of Williams army (Italians, Flemish, Franks, etc.) by adding a few lines here and there about the different men making up the Norman army.Originally Posted by Barry Fitzgerald
But in the end up I decided it would be safer for me to report the battle in a more puritanical AAR than attempt to stick with defining histroical accuracy - as I am no authority on the battle and would be inclined to make a huge glaring mistake here and there in the pursuit of historical accuracy. I wimped out, in other words
But yes, good points raised. If I write up some other historical battles I might include some "liberties" when describing what units I'm given in the battle.
No problem, glad you liked itOriginally Posted by Barry Fitzgerald
