Thread: 0.8x AI Faction Progression

I've said too much already! Yeah, at least one now already (still sorta WIP, but looks pretty close). We aren't churning new units out again yet, but there is a steady little stream going. When 0.81 is out, I think some guys will be able to turn their attention back to getting more new units.

I just finished my Sweboz campaign, the year is 236BC:

As you can see Macedon has taken full control of Greece (except for one city) and they are now rapidly expanding north:

Another something I found interesting was SPQR. They always seem to expand very quick, but here,
the garrison at Bononia stood their ground, despite being sieged every few turns.

In the south SPQR has finally taken up the will to unify Italy:

I might play this campaign a bit longer, as I am finding it very interesting

I saw in the victory conditions that I had to capture "Vicus Vendelicum", yet the name on the campaignmap is "Vindelicoppidos".
The right name is probably "Vindelicoppidos", but I think you forgot to change the victory conditions

Glad you are enjoying it Janius. I sort of like that Macedonian expansion - better than them taking the whole of the interior of the Balkans.

Makes sense, I mean, Makedon did exert a lot of influence in Thrace before this mod's time period, and Olbia is Greek, correct? I have a Makedon campaign going right now, so I'll post that up soon...

Ha! Really nice to see the Romans grow and swell like crazy and then get their butts kicked! Strange stuff with Pahlavans in India though. Do those provinces still rebel to that faction?

RTW, 167 BC: Rome expels Greek philosophers after the Lex Fannia law is passed. This bans the effete and nasty Greek practice of 'philosophy' in favour of more manly, properly Roman pursuits that don't involve quite so much thinking.

    My Romani campain in 198BC:

It was rather interesting, as the Ptolemaioi pushed beyond Babylon, before being pushed back by my Selucid Allies, and mostly destroyed by me. Now the Selucids have managed to invade mainland Greece, and grabed a lot of land before being pushed back.

They sure did, Carthage sent 6 (3 for gaul, 3 for Italy) full stacks of libyans (all 4 types), scutarii, velites and elites and... . Italy is a rorarii graveyard, so to speak.

I play as Lusotannan and I have played very defensive after I kicked out Carthaginians out of Celtiberia. Which I did pretty fast..LOL..
Then after many years I saw some Carthaginian soldier in the north provinses of Italy...I wondered what they did there so I pressed Toggle_fow....... Hell to my biggest surprise I saw that the Carthaginians had taken all of Italy and forced the Romans to the North...
And when this pic is taken the Romans only have one Provins left....

I and the romans are Allys and Aedui are in war with Both Rome and Carthago.LOL
Carthaginians is on its way to me in celtiberia and also soon in war with Sweboz.....
Carthago is among the worst monster I have seen with super elite soldiers...This is realy fun "But Hard" LOL

If you could somehow get Quart Hadasht and Ptolemies to battle each other... you may have a snowball's chance.

Spam Loricati Scutari, Dosidataskeli, Balearic Slingers, and Ambakaro and you should be fine. And Ambakaro Epones and Iberi Lanceari too.

    Karthadast 234BC VH/M

Not much movement on the AI... All the barbarian faction in standing completly still. Strange.

    Peace at last.

I have FINALY beaten the romans. 15years of slow fighting, back and forth. They started by invading does two island, and succeded in taking the smaller one.

My eyes now turns against the traitors of Ptolemai. I'm preparing two stacks to be shiped against alexandria - and some reinforcements to be send right after. It will be bloody.

    160:
Finally there are no more rebel territories. (The four remaining are untakeable: I ignore those two in Africa, Sahara is behind some mountains, and I cheated to make the defenders of Dumatha super powered [it is now ignored by everyone]) I invade Armenia and fight a surprizingly difficult series of battles. Even though I have equal numbers, the Hai forces inflict terrible losses on my legion. If I didnt' have a second legion following to take the vangard possition, I would have been in trouble. But soon the Hai surrender and become a protectorite of Rome. Ptolemaic exiles demand their entire empire back or they'll invade (peace having been reached when their ally became my protectorite). I deny their request and two stacks of Pantodapoi and Ethiopians attack Diopolis Megale... they are crushed, leaving two family members and two Pantodapoi in their one remaining town. They fell to the might of Rome. Nubia is easily converted with kind words and some wagons full of Roman silver.

All that is left is Dacia and I'll have greater empire than the real Romans.

The three largest powers all have an incased protectorite with one territory.

At 190BC, the Parthians had taken two territories for themselves. Now they could probably give me trouble. Once they got Baktra, they exploded. And after a long war with Saka Rauka, I think they have turned their attension toward the West. They can't seem to be able to see anymore Saka towns and all of their armies are moving into Media. Since they touch only four enemies they will attack one (the way of RTW). They can't see Saka, "Baktria" is their protectorite, and they seem to have an inablility to attack Seleucia (their oldest enemy who nearly wiped them from the planet), so there is a 99.999% chance that they will attack me in a couple turns.

Another ironic thing: before the war between Sauromatae and Sweboz, the three of us had a three way alliance. Being Italy, Germany, and (the guys who control) Finland. And this group, axis of countries if you will, was trying to take over England.

Its not like they have the armies to reconquer anything, however Carthage doesnt have its armies at the right place either -> rebelling cities -> Romans back in Rome, Aedui expanding big time.

Now if only those romans would upgrade their barracks and start recruiting polybian armies instead of Rorarii, they might still win the game .

That's for 263 BC. I am personally impressed with Epeirote expansion, and the fact the Casse have actually done something. Oh, I'm the Koinon, if you're wondering. Quite crazy, I attacked Korinthos and Chalkis right from the get-go. I lost Athenai, but as you can see, I regained it rather quickly(in 269 or 268.) Doing quite well...gearing up for the capture of Lesbos and Kretai before pushing north...

    Saromatae, VH/M, 253 BCE.

Not a lot seems to really be happening except in Italy, where it looks like Rome, Carthage, and the Epeirotes are battling it out. Rome got stomped early but it looks as though they're mounting a counterattack in Northern Italy.

I've been pretty isolated from the rest of the world; frantically trying to unite the steppes under my flag. Been using a lot of ambush, hit-and-run tactics against the Eleutheroi. Early on, what would happen would be that I would take a settlement, then they'd take a different settlement of mine. Took a long time for me to get my finances and armies in order to mount effective counterattacks across my large amount of land.

    Very fun game.
