Anyone know anything about laptop graphics cards?

Hi chaps,

My parents are getting my sister a new PC for her birthday, and they asked me to sort it out. I would normally rather enjoy doing this, but it turns out that she wants a laptop, and, what's more one that can play 'games'. I've tried to dissuade her, and get her to let me build her a desktop, but she won't budge. So, I've got to buy a pre-built laptop. Grrr.

The main problem I've run across is laptop graphics cards-I simply don't know what models are out there, how powerful each model is, etc. Can anyone give me a basic rundown of the currently available budget, mid-range and high-end portable cards from Nvidia and ATi at the moment?

There have been two threads on this subject, one detailed, one brief, and for the life of me I can't find either. If I remember correctly, Divinus Arma was the author of the one that got detailed. Ugh. I founf all sorts of evaulations and roundups for him, and now I'm loath to recreate that work ... I'm gonna look a little longer, if I still can't find it, I guess I'll have to work on my Google-Fu again.
