Thread: Little Problem

    Default Little Problem

I have a problem with running EB 0.8 once it is installed over my RTW. Whenever I try to open EB, the regular Rome Total war just runs instead . I installed it on a clean version 1.5 RTW, and the installation seemed to run smmothly (as all of the files are where they should be and the icon appeared on the desktop.)

I have tried reinstalling both RTW and EB but that didn't help. I followed all of the instructions while installing v.8 and it still does not run EB. Please tell me any suggestions you have to help me run EB. Keep in mind that this is the first mod I have downloaded for RTW, so the solution may be obvious.......

are you using the "europa barbarorum" icon that EB installs on the desktop?
now i'm here, and history is vindicated.

Yeah, you might want to copy it and put one of them in your RTW file too - I sure did.

Ok I'll try to put it in my RTW file........... as of now the EB icon and the RTW icon both load up Rome, not EB.

Hi, Today i did a clean install of Rome gold edition, i then proceeded to install EB v0.8.

When i clicked on the shortcut it said the .exe file that it was linked to did not exist so it linked it to the RomeTW.exe in the rome folder.

Basically whatever i try to start Rome with it always starts up Vanilla version.

If anyone can help that would be great,

    thanks

When you say "clean install of Rome Gold edition", I'm assuming it's already patched up to 1.5. Make sure it is.

What you need to do is copy your EB icon that appeared on the desktop during installation into your main RTW folder.

Also, you have to make sure that EB is really installed in your main RTW folder. When I first started EB I had the exact same problem as you did. The reason why is that I was installing EB .8 into C:/Program Files/Activision Value/Rome Total War.

However, when checking the files, I also noticed C:/Program Files/The Creative Assembly/Rome Total War. I had two "main" RTW folders in my Program Files. I reinstalled EB over this file instead of the other RTW one, copied the icon into my main folder and it worked perfectly.

I suggest that you uninstall EB, make sure you RTW is 1.5, and then check if you have more than one "main" Rome Totalwar file like I did. If you do pay attention to which one you are installing EB into and try them both. After that, copy your EB icon from the desktop and put it in the EB file. Hopefully this helps.

I think the installer defaults to the folder Activision/Rome Total War or something like that, If you bought RTW more recently it will probably be in the folder The Creative Assembly/RTW, During the EB install you need to check and make sure it is installing to the right folder, If it's not, click browse and choose the right one.
