Thread: rtw 1.5 vs bi 1.6

Default rtw 1.5 vs bi 1.6

It is recommended to install EB on a clean rtw 1.5 version.
However, instead of the rtw -> 1.2 -> 1.3 -> 1.5 usual upgrading, I used rtw -> 1.2 -> bi (practically replaces 1.3) -> 1.6 (special for bi, but has the effects of 1.5 on rtw, meaning that I didn't have to install rtw 1.5 bcuz installing bi 1.6 automatically transformed rtw 1.2 into rtw 1.5)
I installed EB on this version and it works (w some minor bugs), but it's a lot slower. Is it because of my 1.6 version instead of a 1.5 clean one?

It's probably more likely your graphic settings or just that your computer can't handle everything that goes on in EB well. Is it slower overall? Slower inbetween turns? In battles? On my old computer .74 ran, but it went rather slow. After I got my new computer I've never noticed a lag, and I'm using the BI exe with it.

It's slower than the vanilla version.
    - inbetween turns (but this would be explainable given the bigger no of factions)
    - in battles (but I solved it by reducing unit size to small)
    - gameplay (the way you move in the campaign map or just get into cities or right-click on units/building) - altho I've already changed all video options to low or off, the game still runs slow
    - loading a saved game or just simply starting a new game

P.S. it may be my videocard, but then how come RTW works fine?

EB is far more complex than vanilla RTW and it is simply slower than RTW vanilla. Its got nothing to do with your installation sequence, I have the same (RTW1.0 -> RTW-BI 1.3 -) RTW-BI 1.6 -> RTW-BI 1.6 + EB) and 0.8 runs as good, but probably better than EB 0.74 did.
