Default Small text fixes for units

    >>>>>>>>>>> FOR VERSION 0.80 ONLY! <<<<<<<<<<<<<

Following a suggestion from Khelvan and the problem pointed out in this thread:

    https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=74024

I have here a link to a file that fixes some issues with unit texts. A picture says more than words, so in the pic below, you can find on the left the original look of 0.8 and on the right the fixes that Ive applied in the file.

    - You'll notice the unit list in the MIC lining up better
    - You'll notice texts are not overlapping anymore and english translations are no longer behind the wrong unit.

For more screens on improvements/changes see my screenshots in the thread above.

    Here is the file:

    http://rapidshare.com/files/6596490/...units.rar.html

    Installation:
    - Browse to C:\program files\activision\rome - total war\EB\Data\text (or your custom install folder)
    - back up export_units.txt (f.i. rename it to export_units.txt.bck)
    - place the new file export_units.txt in its place

    - In case you messed up: I included the original file.

Disclaimer: Use on your own reponsibility!

NOTE: if you like this file and want a similar one with the english descriptions removed as well: check out post nr 27 by Batahr in the first link of this post.

Hey, just wanted to say thanks for the fix. It's infinitely better now, I can actually see everything and it just feels like some sort of weight has been lifted. Very good job . Batahr's version is awesome too, and I'll probably use that at some point once I get used to the names a little more and don't need them as much. Both versions should definately be available in an installer or little add-on or something. Great stuff!

This is a fix that has been included in 0.81 4 days ago. Bear in mind however, that this fix that is part of 0.81 will affect only unit names, not buildings.

And don't worry about when 0.81 will be available. SOON!

Does this work for 0.81 too?

Ups. Sorry I didn't read the whole thread.

First of all, lol, that was 2 months ago. So remember folks, soon means not so soon in EB-speak.

Anyhoo, I'm wondering what it means that only unit names are fixed, not buildings. Anybody know?

Double klick on one of your settlements. Now go into your buildings tab. Then right klick on a building to bring up it's description.

Notice that in some building descriptions, the English translation for the building name is located somewhat to the right and down, on the description tab. Often this translation partially obscures the main description text.

This used to be a problem for both the building and unit descriptions in 0.80 until Oleo figured out a way to fix this for the units.

    Thanks Oleo!

This fix was included in the 0.81 build, but it does not fix the problem for the building descriptions.

I'll post a screnie to illustrate the problem if you like.

Does Oleo's fix take care of that problem?

This fix is useless for 0.81 as EB changed the unitnames to a format the same way I did.

The biggest issue (at least for me) was the overlapping text in MIC's (the text that shows which units can be recruited. For buildings this does not apply, so I couldnt be bothered to try and get the buildingnames to look better.

Anyway the same solution can be applied for buildings. The textfile you're looking for is ...eb\data\text\export_buildings.txt. Every building has its own set of lines, f.i.

    Code:
    {temple_of_fertility_awesome_temple_gauls}	Essusandros\n(Fortress Temple of Essus)
    {temple_of_fertility_awesome_temple_gauls_desc}
Essus is the aggressive Gallic god of the underworld / pursuer of justice, the hunt, produce, wine and commerce. Along with Taranis and Teutatis he forms part of the Gallic Triad.\n\nPersons that have been caught in acts of commercial defraud, murder and / or betrayal of the Gallic peoples are sacrificially slain in the name of Essus and their bodies hung to rot from trees to serve as a warning to the living.\n\nThrough fear, Essus invokes a great respect for law and order; which in turn makes for a safer, more vibrant economy.\n\nCeltic temple complexes were complicated, expensive edifices; they employed a large central temple, with votive pools, educational metalworks depicting warriors, heroes, and deities, used as decoration and to teach stories, as well as an enclosure around the trees. Within would operate many priests, teachers, and guards who would protect the temple and grove from defilers.
    {temple_of_fertility_awesome_temple_gauls_desc_short}
Essus is the aggressive Gallic god of the underworld / pursuer of justice, the hunt, produce, wine and commerce.
    This part is the name:

    Code:
    {temple_of_fertility_awesome_temple_gauls}	Essusandros\n(Fortress Temple of Essus)
    which results ingame in:

    Essuandros
    (Fortress Temple of Essus)

    you can change it to:

    Code:
{temple_of_fertility_awesome_temple_gauls}	Essusandros (Fortress Temple of Essus)
    and it'll become:

    Essuandros (Fortress Temple of Essus)

I have no idea if it looks better, you'll have to try.

Nope. I dosen't. Something strange though. The error in my game only seems to appear when I get the construction rapport at the beginning of my turn.

    Weird to say the least.
