    Default Faction leader death problem

Okay, so I was playing my long running Scipii campaign, when I've run into a problem-- when my faction leader (who is in his 60's) dies, it gives me the game over message even though I have an heir (and tons of other family members to pass the torch to as well). Is this a bug? Did I do something wrong? I'll admit, I haven't played in a while, so maybe I'm forgetting something here.... Anyway, is there something I can do to fix/prevent this? Thanks.

    Hi Sisco Americanus

Must be very annoying to have a long running campaign at risk like this.

Your heir and other family members are 16+ so are generals/governors? Assuming that some are available to become leader I dont understand the problem. Which version are you playing? Patched to V1.5 Ive not seen this problem before.

Unless another faction has achieved the victory conditions at the same time? Not even sure that applies though.

Do you have a save you can go back to and try things like change the heir?

Hope it gets sorted and you can get on with the campaign.
    Regards

    Thanks for the reply.

Yes, my heir (and maybe two dozen other male family members) are all "of age" and eligible to take the reigns of the faction should it be necessary. And yes, I am patched through V1.5.

I will try a few things (changing heirs, even changing faction members if need be), but I was hoping there was something else I could do to fix it, as removing a familiy member's status as heir gives that family member a negative trait, and my current heir is pretty influential (and a good general, to boot).

Oh, and I doubt another faction achieved victory conditions, because mine is by far the most powerful faction (only Britania (?!) is close... which makes me wonder what exactly the Julii are doing up there... which is nothing compared to the downright sloth shown by the Brutii... but I digress). Besides, this only happens when my current faction leader dies. When I reload the game and advance to the next turn again, if the leader doesn't die then the game progresses normally. Very strange indeed.

Anyway, I've been playing this campaign on and off since I bought the game directly after release, so it would be a tad disappointing if I had to abandon it. I guess we'll see....

Who controls Rome? Are you playing short campaign or full campaign?

Was in your faction heir in the same army as your leader, because if they are both killed in battle then surely there is no one in line t be the leader? Could this be it?

Yeah, that doesn't affect it, once my faction leader and heir died of natural causes on the same turn and it forced me to use the faction leader's new 16 year old son as my faction leader. At first I hated him, but he ended up being one of my best generals ever.
