Just making sure... We are finished on the various 'whines' eh? Good.

Persionally I haven't experienced it yet. So there must be specific factors playing in, such as that besieging cities/castles. But at least it isn't making the game unplayable, and it seems to be rather uncommon unless you are unlucky.

Hahaha, I did not know that could happen, sounds like a nice feature. Half of my family tree consists of adopted Ex-Captains as my royal family mainly consists of infertile, crazy bastards: seems like the inbreeding experiment did not work that well

Not sure this issue deserves its own thread, especially after the bad turn it took at the beginning.

If people think it's a bug, put it in the bug thread. Otherwise, just put it down to life's only certainty - sooner or later, everybody dies. Like this thread, in fact.

To expand on what econ said above, I've seen enough reports of this for it to have been included in my last update of the bug thread, and if you look at that you'll see the entry The 'man of the hour' event never seems to trigger in sallies, siege battles and when the army never moves out of the town (ie for an enemy/rebel army within one step of the settlement).

Hopefully that clears this issue up.
