Sorry to say this, but it is crap. Completely confusing and not to the point. Also some of the things you've written is entirely false, they are simply not true. Especially that with the Machiavellian passage, where did you come up with that?

Quite frankly, sources are missing. To state that the Medici Family was the most brilliant family, monetarian wise, to walk this earth is unsubstantiated and servers no purpose. Stop making judgments, keep to a descriptive style.

What is the topic? If the topic is this: Alain Belda and his management decisions at Alcoa corporation then i think you quite missed it.

btw, where did you come up with these numbers? "And pride is a fantastic quality for man to have.
Pride will win out over truth always. Or at least 9 times out of 10."

It was supposed to be a joke

    I didn't write it.

It is hilariously bad I thought.

That's pretty low, I was just about to read it thoroughly and give my honest opinion, good thing I did some other, more productive, stuff first ...

EDIT: Reading a few sentences, I would have probably stopped and told you your writing in mafia games tends to be better than this...

I'm really sorry about that. I didn't think anyone would seriously think that was me.

    It's all right.

I wondered if it was a joke, but decided that I wouldn't wound your ego more than I had to by dismissing the essay as such.

Still, my small revenge is that you're now wondering why we all had such a low opinion of your essay skills...

Funny. I though at first it was a joke, but then I remembered you were American and thought to myself that it might as well be real.
However, I wish I didnt spend the fifteen-twenty minutes reading and replying to that, I should have just kept to making logic excercises.

Use your imagination and think of something really nasty. That would be my response, if they boards weren't PG-13.

According to the Oxford English Dictionary Online, 'quote' is acceptable as a noun meaning 'quotation.' Last I checked, the OED was put out by you Brits. So it may not be correct usage in the States, but if you're writing in the UK it would seem to be okay. [smiley included to avoid confusion of humor with potential nationalist attack]

Hmmm, it seems that dictionary.com is currently down for some reason, but my Merriam-Websters includes quote with the same noun-form definition, so I guess it's not just a British thing after all.

I'll agree with you that quotation is a much better choice as a noun in academic writing, but English is not a fixed thing. It evolves over time with usage, and any attempt to forbid new uses of words because they're not proper in the traditional sense seems to me to be just so much French wannabeism. Really? That's very interesting. My English teacher was positively draconian about using quotation as the noun, he insisted that using quote instead was evil and wrong.

I don't wish to seem unkind, but you asked for opinions and I hope that you will see my response as trying to be critical in the constructive sense of the term.

It's difficult to know where to start, but the paper is almost unreadable and does not address the topic you stated.

You only address some comments to Alcoa and Mr Belda in the last few paragraphs, and then dismissively. I would imagine an economics class requires some commentary on management decisions, compliance regimes and shareholder requirements. You appear to have a personal political agenda about business activity that borders on contempt - which is fine of itself, but needs more expression in terms of the subject required.

The preceding screed of the paper reads as a random collection of historical caricatures in which you advance a range of unconnected psychological theories. It tells me nothing of Mr Belda's activities, or the company he worked for. It tells me nothing of your understanding of economics, except for your dislike of the subject.

Does your school provide support and tutoring in how to write essays? It would be useful for you to seek such support, which may help you structure your thoughts and answer the question posed.

You should consider what the topic requires: Make notes about the events that Mr Belda was responsible for and the economic environment at the time. Have you researched the events at hand? Look at the interests of the stakeholders. Why did he chart such a course, and what were his key decisions? What were the rules for compliance? What do you think these rules were meant to achieve?

In a scholarly paper, always provide references for your assertions, and if you develop opinions, make it clear to the reader that they are your opinions. Don't allow yourself to step onto your own political soap-box, or be diverted from the task at hand to more personally interesting tangents.

In short, you should start again.

    I hope this is helpful.
