I'm looking for suitable freeware (hopefully) that can view and edit tga files. Does anyone know of any?
Or does it have to be a Photoshop or equivalent?

Gimp
Epistolary Richard's modding Rules of CoolCool modders make their mods with the :mod command line switch
If they don't, then Cool mod-users use the Mod Enabler (JSGME)
Cool modders use show_err
Cool modders use the tutorials database
Cool modders check out the Welcome to the Modding Forums! thread
Cool modders keep backups
Cool modders help each other out
Great, thanks ER. Oh, and I didn't take it personally. ;)
Ok, now here's the next question - How on earth do you know where to draw the land bridge between England and France when the map_features.tga looks more like the night sky? Heh
Edit: That Gimp program's really neat. Far easier to use than Photoshop.
Edit 2: I take it I need to find the actual cursor values of the place I want to add the bridge. Is there an easy way, e.g. shell command, to find cursor values?

Ignore last question. I have found out how to do this using the map_regions.tga file.
