Thread: Viewing City CTD

    Default Viewing City CTD

I was able to view a Seleucid and a Bactrian city without a CTD.

When I tried to view a Hayasdan city I got the following error message:

    Generic Error:

    Failed to find texture 'eb/data/models_unit/textures/UNIT_GREEK_PELTAST_MACEDON,TGA'

I also tried viewing a city for the Sabaeans, Macedon, and Carthage, with no CTD. When I tried viewing on for the Saka I got a CTD with the same error message as the Hayasdan (and, I think, the Parthians).

I never view cities. Firstly it takes alot of time and doesn't really do anything, especially since new buildings don't show up. Secondly, mods that remove peasants, often don't have anything walking around the town, and unless this is dealt with (most people overlook it), it will crash.

That missing texture has been reported before, it will be in the patch.

Except of course, this is EB. So we made sure to substitute in the guys who crew the Greek siege engines. Credit to cunctator for that, as it uses no additional unit slots, but eliminates a potential CTD.

By the way, I've seen some of the seige engines, on the recruitment lists. Man they're expensive...

I've finished checking the factions for the viewing city CTD. The results are as follows:

    CTD's:

Arverni, Aedui, Suebi, Casse, Sauromatae, Getae, and Saka all crash with the same error message mentioned at the start of this thread.

    No CTD:

Epirus, the Greek States, the Ptolemies, and (surprise) the Lusitanians do not crash to desktop when viewing the city.

This is just a wild guess, but I wonder if factions that CTD when you view their cities are more likely to CTD if one of their cities is besieged? So the solution may not be as simple as disabling the view city function. The good news is that all the crashes seem to occur when the program can't find the same file, so just adding one into the relevant folders might do the trick. Or not.
