As with so many things, we haven't made a final decision yet - it's definitely something we're looking into though. It should be possible to do this with MTW2

I am completely in favour of this, although I won't impose it on the rest of the group should they deem it not needed, time will tell however.

Isn' t Implemenenting eras just having a different descr_strat.txt, map_regions.tga and imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.txt file and differenet .bat files to launch it.

It's not a major modification of course. The only reason for being cautious is that we didn't discuss it yet (since we have a lot more of things to focus on) but no doubt it's possible. Question would be more to decide what specific timeframes and with what gameplay balance.

Well, a new descr_strat also means new research on faction borders, etc.
Generally, it'll demand pretty much a new map if done properly, balance has to be reworked, all kind of modifications.
Furthermore, we'll have to see how we work the technical side.

So, in general, I'd rather finish our mod more or less for one starting point first and then work on another era.

Well of course it is indeed something that is of secondary concern, first is a release with one start date, the future though will, most likely, include different starting points.
