Default Does blocking a port gets u money?

When i received a mission from my nobles to block a port playing as the byzantines they told me something about not only preventing my enemy from trade money but also gaining some for myself.
    Does this really happens?
Do u get any money when u block an enemy`s port?

I could be wrong, but I believe that you only get money for blocking a port as a reward for completing a mission.

You're right, Flavius. The only money it gets you is if the Council of Nobles has promised you a reward for doing it. However, it denies money to the target, which can be considerable. I've had cities making 3-4,000 florins a turn from sea trade, all of which goes away if the port is blockaded (or has an enemy army on the road between the city and the port, or standing on the port itself, or the city is under siege).
Age and treachery will defeat youth and skill every time.

Hmm, reminds me of a tactic I thought of the other day watching a documentary about the US and Cuba. To bring a "trade-war" in Med2 to th next level you might cancel trade rights with a small nation on your doorstep. Yes, the loss of trade might hurt you, but if you're big enough you should be able to shrug it off and keep income coming from trade with other nations. However, the loss of trade with your empire should be devastating on the small nation. This, combined with port-blockades and active merchant-monoplising should starve the poor little guys pretty well so you can eventually swallow their empire without so much as a hiccup.
I'm off to try it in my venice campaign...

What wizzie says can also be applied for your nation. What i mean is that if u have a choise in your campaign u should sometimes take on factions that u dont have too much trade

Of course, the case with USA-Cuba is a bit different. The USA can use it's huge trade power to force the direction of other nation's diplomacy, which means very few allies and less trade support for the smaller nation.
In M2TW you can't persuade other countries to stop trading with an enemy. As well, the nature of M2TW is far more aggressive than in the real world. You will weaken your target, but another faction can easily take advantage of this to snap up pieces of it for itself. Plus, it gets the benefit of continued trade with you and the target (at least until it declares war). You might remove a weak enemy only to strengthen a future one - be aware of your short and long term strategy.
