    Default Trust Fund King??

Just started a campaign as the English with the LTC mod (which I think is excellent). I'm trying to wipe out the poor Scots, but everytime I humiliate them in battle and ransom the prisoners, their King, Nobles, etc. are able to come up with the money, forcing me to fight the reinforced remnants again (and again). Doesn't matter whether it's 400 florins or 4000 florins, they get ransomed! The Scots are only in possesion of their starting province. I don't have the heart to massacre them having seen Brave Heart...but I want Edinburgh!!.

This is the 1st Grand Campaign I've played (I played the smaller Kingdoms campaigns up to now). Is this supposed to happen, or does it have to do with the LTC mod? I'm playing on VH/VH if that matters.

    Thanks

I believe the AI gets large amounts of cash for free each turn in LTC. Same thing in Kingdoms.

I think that the LTC AI money cheat is reserved for when the AI has 2 or less provinces. And as you know,Scotland starts with 1 province,sooo...big money for them. .Well to solve the problem, you either execute the prisoners, reinforce your army,or take advantage of the money cheat and make them your vassals.Jong has this excellent guide on vassalage. He used the LTC mod on vh/vh.You'll probably want to read it.

In LTC 4.1 the AI gets a small money boost for every settlement it owns on H, and a bigger boost on VH. Scotland gets 700 florins per settlement on VH, and has a Kings Purse of 1500.

I'm playing the Turks on the LTC mod 4.1 and the Egyptians can't afford the ransom so I execute a fair few.

Fantastic piece of work on the mod by the way - first battle and my ass was handed to me by rebels when they sallied forth and routed by battering ram. Sat there with my jaw on the floor.

If you don't want them to pay the ransom, why do you offer it in the first place? .

Just execute the prisoners. If you are worried for your reputation, try to kill as many of them in the battle, by surrounding them and force to fight to death. Use your archers to kill the routers.

    Thanks for the replys!

Actually, I kind of like not being able to steamroll the poor Scots in 3 or 4 turns. Right now I'm in a 2 front war with Scottish remnants and the backstabbing French. They'll both pay with terrible interest!

As to killing the prisoners, I'm trying to be a benevolent despot...but surrounding them in battle and killing them to the last man sounds PC enough to me.
