    Default Legacies of Meria (mod for M2TW)

    The Legacies of Meria

    The year is 605AC (After Cirmacus the Great). The Wars of Novalanda or over and struggle for power has seen the demise of Novalanda's great powers and them having to consolidating they ground. The Great Kingdom of Capasantra has fallen, the last remaining heir to crown assasinated by the damned Sorin! This left the royal families ties to divide the lands between themselves to form the houses of Seperium, Hydrion and Whistlebuck. The Greyshadow have recently installed a new head of state and crowned him Grandslayer of Shadowa. Peros has seen much of its people die in a great epademic after they were visted by the foreigners from Pheola. Sorin's remaining loyalists after the its massacre have taken refuge in the old fortress of Kasadaroc and hope to turn it into their new home. A number of Novalandians have claimed to have found a forgotten heir to the thrown and fight to instate him as the King of Capasantra, however, the houses dont wish to lose their new found power and resist all those who oppose.

    The arrival of the Pheolan ships has provided a new world opened up to the isle of Novalanda. A vast continent sits west and north of the isle.
    This continent is domiated by the 5 states of Pheola, whoes alliance denies its neighbors the Gregons, Corithians and Terranians any riches of the continent with the Pheolans only looking to ever expand.

    This mod is being developed for M2TW. Its set to play the story of Meria through 3 ages of warfare, taking it from a dark shadowed past into a new age of invention and exploration.
    Those who saw my old fantasy mod will recognise much of the races involved and many of the concepts here have been carried over.

    The Factions

    The House of Seperium
    The House of Seperium is now homed in the old Capasantra capital, the main trade centre of Novalanda for the past 4 centuries. This grants Seperium with foreign technology and wears.

    The House of Hydrion
    The House of Hydrion boasts the best light cavalrymen in Novalanda. They lay claim to the fastest horses and host annual games at their stadiums. This gives some of the best light and mobile sub-forces on the island.

    The House of Whistlebuck
    The House of Whistlebuck work closest with the Nataru people who inhabit the Great Northen forest. Their people are realy in touch with the world and gain the best exploits from plants and trees.

    The Kingdom of Peros
    The Kingdom of Peros is home to the Evralast. A race of kind hearted, highly intelligent and highly skilled people. An evralast is taught how to use a bow from a very young age and how to ride in the years before they come of age as a Citizen of Peros. Perosian fletchers also boast to craft the finest bows in all of Meria.

    The Kingdom of Shadowa
    The Kingdom of Shadowa has always been shrouded in fear. They work on a strict feudal basis of Overseer -> Lord/General -> Servant. A greyshadow will give his/her life for the Kingdom at a moments notice. Greyshadows are trained as warriors from birth, they are built up into a strong fighting force.

    The State of Sorin
    The State of Sorin originates from a Religious Order formed in 22AC. Sorinians have developed into their own race of people, their skin is much darker than those of Novalandians due from their ancestors devotion to worshipping the sun. Also, their eyes appear to have a red glow to them. Some Sorinian's devote their life to become a servant and warrior of the Sun and become fearsome fighters.

    The Capasantra Royalists
    The Royalists are led by a man who claims to be the decsendant of capasantra crown. Their force is quite meager and boast only fanatical militias but they armed well like the old Capasantra armies.

    The Pheo Homeo
    Pheo Homeo is the actual birthplace of Cirmicus the Great. Little was this known to the Novalandian's who worshipped his teachings for centuries. Pheolan culture depcits a highly intelligent society of trade and expansion. The Pheo Homeo have a relgious stranglehold over the other Pheolan states.

    The Pheo Stalion
    The Pheo Stalion pride themselves on having the best lancers in the known world. Their culture is very similar to other Pheolan states with the added bonus of having the strongest horses and best horse breeders on the Continent.

    The Pheo Ade
    The Pheo Ade is Dragon Slayer territory. Secluded in the western provinces they spend much time trying to irrigate the barren lands to improve their farming capabilities. They have a regime known as the Dragon Pact, whom train the Dragon Soldiers of Adelon.

    The Pheo Roma
    The Pheo Roma border the terranian territories. They have been charged with defending these deserted lands for centuries.

    The Pheo Ester
    The Pheo Ester are home to the Pheonix Statues of the Western Gate. The western gate is the pass that the Pheloans arrived through over a Millennia ago. The Pheonix Order is charged with defending this gate from birth.

    The State of Mancipal
    Mancipal is a city lost in the northern mountains. It claimed independence after being "left to rot" by the Pheolan States. Mancipals are essentially Pheloans by heritage and have many of the same principles.

    The Kingdom of Gregonia
    Gregonia is a land of Giants! At least in the eyes of the world this is true. A typical Gregonian is about 8 to 9 feet tall and weighs around 18 to 20 stone. They are actually a very competant race and boast some very fine craftmanship.

    The Kingdom of Coritha
    Corithia is a small but stable Kingdom. They are home to the finest wood in all of Meria. The Farber trees are a soft wood thats easilly crafted but once left for a few days in the open air, the wood turns hard into an unbreakable material.

    The Terranians
    The Terranians are a vile, bloodlusting reptilian race. They ascended from simple unintelligent creatures into a developing society. They seem to have to quench their thirst often and are highly aggressive towards the other peoples of Meria. They reproduce quickly and they seem to have an ever lasting source of soldiers.

    More material will follow. Eventually all material will be on an easy to navigate web-site.
    I dont plan to start REAL work on this mod until the moddling issue has been overcome. Its all planning and design until then.

    Faction in Detail!

    The Novalandian House of Seperium

    The House of Seperium is now homed in the old Capasantra capital, the main trade centre of Novalanda for the past 4 centuries. This grants Seperium with foreign technology and wears. They field one of the most profesional standing armies on Novalanda, rarely relying on militia troops.

    Family Members

    Baron Feros Seperium - Lady Windall
    Age: 52
    The Baron has been at the head of the house since his father's death 15 years ago, the Household has been thriving ever since. The Baron is a real hardcase and shows no mercy on in battle. He despsises the Royalists.

    Successor Tyros Seperium - Lady Fetherspa
    Age: 27
    Tyros is the first born son os Feros. Like his father he hates the Royalists. He can tell some tall tales at times about some glorious victories that were won off the edge of his blade when they were actually done by his soldiers.

    Paulos Seperium - Lady Allia
    Age: 24
    Paulos is a keen swordsman. At the battle of Walden Field he personally slain the Royalist Champion, Sermos the Suppressor. His ability to command is somewhat lacking however.

    Jeral Seperium
    Age:12
    Son of Tyros, named after the legend Jeral, Ranger of Kasadroc.

    Religion

    The House of Seperium follows the Banner of Cirmicus, the same relgion as the Pheolans. Their devotion to upholding the rellgion is been exemplorary.

    Culture

    The Novalandians are a people of trade and prosperity. They take thir religion seriously and attend religious ceremonies regular. They produce fine crafts including cloth, silk and jewelry. They are exceptional horse breeders, nobles will always seek the finest mounts as a show of wealth and status.

    Architecture

    They build huge white stone buildings and castles. They utilize the wood sources near by to create masterful networks of support beams on which the stone is built up around. Most buildings of status will have a square tower on one corner so that its occupants can see over the city streets.

    Army Lists

    Serpant Knights - General's Bodyguard
    These are the General's Guard. Highly Trained, Highly Disciplined and the core of what Novalandians are great at! Armed with a Longsword, they have the ability to charge through infantry slashing their way through. For protection, they carry a Towershield and wear mail from their shoulders to knees, with leather boots and wrist protectors and also plated shoulder guards and chest protectors. They also wear a closed face helm of their household. The horse is also armoured in mail with an added head protector in the form of plate.

    Serpant Guard - Elite Spearmen
    The Serpant Guard form an elite reserve force for dealing with enemy Heavy Cavalry. Armed with a Long Spear they can thrust it up into the weak points of the man or mount. For protection they carry a tower shield, protecting them from most missle attacks. Their armour is much like the Knight's.

    House Armoured Pikemen - Elite Spearmen
    An elite front line unit exclussive to the Seperium Household. They carry a 9ft Pike which they interlock into a formidle wall. They also carry a Short Sword as a sidearm for if any enemy breaks through. For Armour, they wear the same protection as the Guard's minus the shield.

    Republican Lancers - Heavy Cavalry
    Lancers provide the main charge element to the Novalandian Armies. Armed with a Light Lance and Short Sword, they tend to remain in reserve until giving the order to wreck havoc. They are not so confident in dealing with other cavalry. They are armoured well in mail and leather all over the body with an added chest plate and open face helmet. The horse is protected with mail and leather.

    Republican Lancemen - Spearmen
    Wiedling a Spear and a Kite Shield, the Lanceman's main job is to hold the flanks and protect against cavalry charges. Lancemen will often form a screen in front of the main line as to protect against a direct cavalry assault. Their consists of an open faced helm, plated shoulders and chest and an underling of mail protecting the torso, arms and upper legs.

    Republican Footmen - Heavy Infantry
    Although not as "heavy" as most other local heavy infantry they still impose a solid section of skilled troops for engaging other infantry. They're armed with a Longsword and Kite Shield. Armoured in true republican form wearing plate and mail with an additional closed faced helm.

    Pikemen - Spearmen
    These are the main regular pikemen used primarilly to keep enemies at bay and to face up against other pikemen. Not so heavilly armoured, wearing only a leather vest, wrist protectors and leather boots. The rest is cloth including the cap.

    Archers - Missile Infantry
    Archers provide with army with ranged infantry. Armed with a simple recurve bow these archers are reasonably skilled and can wear down any lightly armoured foes with ease. Due to them primarilly being used for city defence, their armour is light consisting only of a leather vest and boots. Archers carry a short sword for personal defence.

    Crossbowmen - Missile Infantry
    Crossbows pack the punch that bows lack. Crossbowmen are charged with taking out the armoured units of other factions. The downside being they lack the range of regular archers. Again they are lightly armoured since they're usually atop of castle walls, they only wear a leather vest and boots for protection. They also carry a short sword for hand-to-hand combat.

    Desert Riders - Militia Missile Cavalry
    Desert Riders are made up from men and women living in the desert areas of Novalanda. They're fairly competant on horseback and handy with a bow. They're main weapon is a bow and have a longsword for engaging in close combat. They wear only a leather vest and boots for protection. They're quite handy on the desert plains.

    Nataru Riders - Militia Missile Cavalry
    The Nataru are not the most trusted men on horseback but are deadly with a bow. They are primarilly used as scouts to find hidden units, their horses give them the advantage of being able to get away from combat unlike their dismounted allies. Riders are armed with a Bow and Shortsword. Nataru are exceptional with bows and great in forest combat. They do not rely on any armour and are clothed in regular peasant clothing.

    Desert Footmen - Militia Missile Infantry
    Desert Footmen are essentially dismounted riders. They carry a Longsword only for protection, their main use is in softening up light targets, usually on the flanks and get away before being engaged. They are have the advantage of being able to hide in long grass. Their armour consists of a Leather Vest and Boots.

    Nataru Militia - Militia Missile Infantry
    The Nataru race are great forest fighters. Their people form militias for protecting their villages. Their strength is in using bows to soften targets before running to hide and then ambush and strike again. They are armed with a bow and short sword and wear no armour.

    Looking good there, more self-made fantasy, something I encourage whole heartedly in the community for something different to the norm.

    Again thanks for the encouragement, I wanted to stray away from too many cliches... I'll be looking to pick up help in a month or twos time since major progress with M2TW modding being reported.

    I'm a Moddler, Texture Artist and Concepter so i have much of skills needed. I also dabble in code.
    I'll be looking for one or two more artists (i already have one working for me but hes not here on this forum), a mapper and a writer.
