Calling a crusade question....

I am playing as spain and want to call a crusade against Corduba. There is no other crusade currently ongoing, and I am given a list of available targets. However, the only moorish city available to is Tunis.

Is there some other criteria for calling a crusade? Does the target city have to have above/below a certain catholic population percentage? I looked through the data files, but was unable to find anything.

As Egypt, I can call a Jihad against Jeruselum, antioch, etc. and they are rebel.

Anyone know what the restrictions for calling a crusdae are? anyone? bueller?

I don't know for sure, but in my experience, the only valid crusade/jihad targets are a handful of rebel cities, and usually exactly one city per faction (possibly the faction's capital?)

Here's a suggestion though -- depending on where your crusader army is coming from, why not sack Corduba on the way to Tunis? I try to plan my crusade/jihads so that I can mow through 1-2 settlements on the way there. If you lack the proper navy, hire mercenary galleys. And make sure to send re-inforcements behind the crusade to garrison anything in your wake.

If a faction is excommed, I believe all cities are open to crusade. At least I've seen that most recently where the Pope was at war with, and had excommed, Sicily. Some rebel factions will be available especially in Holy Land and also if Muslim elsewhere. If Jerusalem is not Catholic they are always there. Other than that, Muslim capital cities that do not fall into above categories should beavailable too-which is why say the Moors might have 5 settlements but only one is available as a target (their capital).
