Help! I can't install RTW Gold!

I'm desperate. I tried to uninstall RTW 1.2 with 0.74 modded onto it. The uninstall screwed up halfway due to a comp hang. After restarting, the RTW folder is empty, so i figure it's good to go. RTW gold Setup informs me it still detects a previous copy of RTW on the comp! So I check add and remove programs in the Control Panel. It doesn't have an entry for RTW. I can't get into regedit for some reason, and anyhow, i wouldn't even know where to start if i got there. How can I install RTW gold!? I don't have my original RTW discs anymore, they were lost some time ago...

Any help? I really want to play EB 0.8!

still doesn't work i'm afraid. I've found some RTW entries in the registry and deleted them but the problem still persists...

Try uninstaling RTW. Then delete the RTW folder. Restart. Use the registry cleaner program again to delete any RTW related entries. This should allow you to install RTW again.

Install RTW in to c:\Games

After install you should have something like c:\Games\Activision\RTW. Install patch 1.3, then patch 1.5.

Make a new directory in your Games folder called EB (should be c:\Games\EB). Copy the RTW folder to this EB folder. It will look like c:\Games\EB\RTW.

Install EB 0.8 in this c:\Games\EB\RTW folder. Whenever a new version of EB is released, delete this folder and then copy from the vanilla RTW folder again. No more install problems anymore.

I had the same problem once. I had to do a manual uninstall and reg file delete. On the official RTW site, there is a technical help forum, somewhere there, there are manual uninstall directions that I used.
