    Default V. 1 of the Ilsamiren Wars Region Map WIP

    Hi all,

    I just wanted to check in at the chat forum and tell everyone that I've completed the first version for the region map. This may sound strange, I don't actually own MII yet for a number of reasons, but could someone confirm that I have the right idea for the region map?

    Anyway, on with the update:

    I'll be getting on with the fun task of transcribing the RGB values to the province names shortly, something which I only recently discovered was necessary :D .


    I based the dimensions on the current RTR map for Rome (in terms of height, though I did make it smaller in width).

    This is the earlier region plan I based it on:


    As you can see there are a few changes I've made, and I'll no doubt need someone with a little more experience than I have to make sure it's all working properly, but it is at least something.

    Speaking of more experienced people; does anyone feel like giving me some assistance regarding the height map? I've got a black and blue template and I broadly know what needs to be done, but I'm finding it difficult to see how the heights (in grey-scale) equate to the in-game campaign and battlefield maps.

    I'm sure I can have a crack at it soon, but it seems rather complicated to be doing it from scratch. Some recommendations of good ways to go about it wouldn't go astray.

    PS - what's the status of the water:land ratio requirement in MII as opposed to Rome?

    seems like there is a lot of water
    navel battles will be extreemly important
    seems like there is more land on your orginal idea then the region map

    You may get problems with AI and naval invasions.
    Otherwise, very interesting stuff!

    Thanks guys.

    Thorn Is - I originally wanted to have a fairly expansive sea to seperate the two major landmasses as it would fit in better with the story I'd planned out.

    Yeah, the map looks excellent, but I fear that the crappy naval AI will make the game very, very boring once you've conquered your continent, because there will be no more battles unless you invade yourself.

    Yeah, I had feared that, but I would hope that some scripting would result in better (though predictable for the makers) AI behaviour. The main invaders who would come by sea would be the Mekathenain and the Seaborne.
