Thread: Effects of Flaming Arrows during Night battles?

Default Effects of Flaming Arrows during Night battles?

Does anyone know if using flaming arrows during a night fight will create any bonuses or penalties (perhaps the archers can actually SEE where their stuff is landing, and to not use flaming arrows results in penalties..)

    Just figured i'd ask.

Considering they start with Flaming Arrows selected. They have better accuracy with the flaming arrows during the night then normal arrows. This is how it was in BI.

You'd think normal arrows would be more effective at night seeing as the enemy wouldnt even be able to SEE them coming at all.

But you could certainly hear them.

The archer's also wouldnt be able to see were he landed so it would be difficult at longer ranges to hit the target. Not to mention with the lack of light depth perception is an issue so muscle memory isnt always reliable.

Watched a show the other day

    English in a castle
    French besieging

French archers had shields like the pavisse xbowmen

    night battle

after a couple of exchanges of flaming arrows
the English commander had his archers do a quick volley of normal arrows
caught the French archers in the open

Welcome to the world of holywood. Were the scotts defeated the engrish with nothing more then 2 handed cleavemores, wearing nothing under their kilts and screams of "FRREEEEEEEEEEEEDDOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM!!".

They may not be seen by the enemy but the archers firing them can't also. Suffering an accuracy penalty during night battles is a solid way to show the problem. It also gives a good bonus for non archer laden armies to have a decent shot at them if they have a solid general.

I'd always thought there was a moral component to flaming arrows at night.
