    Default Region Specific Units

    So I'm curious about what kind of region specific units are out there - I got the Sherwood archers at nottingham after getting the woodsmans guild, but then I don't know if that can happen in other regions as well . . .
    Can you produce Flemish or Swiss pikemen in some region? Are there other units like this?
    I know you can get the various knights (Hospitaller, Santiago, Templar and Mercenary) but that's guild specific and not region specific . .

    So, does anyone know of other weird, interesting, fantasy or whatever the f... units that are region specific?

    Ok, but still, them Sherwood Archers gotta be region specific, if not also faction specific on top . . .

    The only regional units I have found were mercenaries. No more regional unit production Which is really a shame as at this time period there was not so much national characters the way we think of it today. IMHO all units should be regional rather than national and Nations should be able to learn buildings as they expand.

    If you asked people from that eria what they wore they would tell you something like I am a Yorkshire man or Florentine, Frisian or what ever. Not that I am an Englishman or German or Italian. Nationalism seemed to start in England but it was a long time catching one elsewhere.

    Agreed, only looks to be mercenaries for the ones you can recruit and rebel armies. I suppose it's what model the developers want to take in that the unit roster for a faction is universal throughout their kingdom in general with some units being added in as guild specific eg. Knightly orders, militia cavalry or sherwood foresters.
    When Medieval total realism comes out no doubt there will be region specific units for hire in there.

    The only region spesific units are mercenaries.

    There is a unit mercenary pool per region. IMO it's good enough but I agree that most troops should be region specific. in the descr_mercenaries.txt you can see that each region has a set of units that available there. It's quite varied and it's great. Have a look through the units available and there's some really cool units in there, such as Free Company Longbowen, Rocket Launchers, Serbian Kinghts etc. Lots of flavor. You can see the file here.

    No they aren't. They require the woodsmen's guild. Which is region specific, Nottingham and one or two other places.
