Default Provincial Titles Project for Vanilla (from the Mediaeval Auctoriso team)

Introducing the Provincial Titles Project for Vanilla
    (or PTPV for short)

Alot of people (including ourselves) were pretty unhappy when we heard that the provincial titles from MTW1 would not be included in MTW2. So when the rumor became official so long ago during the summer months we immediately sat down to begin brainstorming how we would bring the titles system back to MTW2 and more importantly how we would improve it and thus within a day of CA's infamous announcement the PTP was born. The project has evolved considerably since then as more information trickled out from CA and more ideas trickled in from our various members but we've finally got a solid setup working in game.

Credit for this goes to Alpaca for actually doing the work to get the script working correctly and efficiently in game, Solo for doing the research on the various titles and heraldry, Conn for his expertise on the British Isles, and the rest of team for their various overused adjectives of encouragement.

Here Ill be showcasing a nearly complete version of the PTPV which will serve as the basis for the much more extensive system we'll be incorporating into MA. The PTPV should be released publicly for download relatively shortly.

The process of appointing a title begins by opening the "city info" scroll within the settlement scroll. The advisor will pop up asking you whether or not you want to appoint a new ruler.

If you select the "show me" button then the advisor will take you to the list scroll that displays all of your generals. Choose the general you want and press the check mark to confirm your selection.

Congratulations! You've successfully appointed a new ruler although the new appointment won’t become official until the following turn. Your character gains a 'future ruler' trait to signify his impending new title.

At any time before the appointment becomes official if you have second thoughts it is a simple click of the button to cancel everything with no ill effects.

Your general now gains the new title along with a substantial improvement to his loyalty. The trait gives the gameplay bonuses while the ancillary displays the coat of arms of the province.

Later on if you feel that another general is better deserving of the title you can change it using the same process however be prepared for a negative backlash from the original holder of the title. Note also that if you lose the province to another faction then your general will also lose his title so be careful to keep your generals' property safe.

As you can see the system is very simple yet very powerful. As I said this is a nearly complete version so you can expect some minor changes in the final release. The vanilla version of the PTP will be ready for download relatively soon so keep your eyes open for a more definite announcement from us concerning the actual date.

The final MA version of the PTP will be much extensive incorporating such elements as varying reactions from your generals to gaining/losing a title depending on their other traits. Some generals will react very favorably and become more loyal while other more egotistical generals might react with a drop in loyalty feeling themselves now even more capable of challenging your rule. Overall the system will be much less straightforward and require a bit of forethought before simply handing out titles like free food samples at the supermarket. It will also give you the ability to appoint other titles that dont require giving away provinces.

    Nice work.
It is a subject I am very interested in.
There are so many possible ways to enrich and expand gameplay with custom Traits and Ancillaries.
Yourself and another modder both are working on different but similar mods in the area of heraldry and Titles.
I think it may be good for you to both team up, share a common interest and pool your knowledge to create a mod that become a staple part of many Mtw2 projects.
My first post @ the org.

All is said in Shifty's post, this release will be a quick overview of a feature we are working on for our mod, so we are more or less planning to enhance it for MA in priority (fitting our ideas, list of faction and map, seems logical). Still we wanted to release something for people missing that feature from MTW (where you could choose who to give it).
That said the projects have not much in common, I honestly don't see where any common work would start at this point.

I know everyone hates being asked this, but you seem to be quite far along with this project. Do you have any idea of when it will be open to the public?

Which one ? MA or the mini mod ?

(The second is planned for sunday, we're just adjusting a few things but it's 95% done right now).

It was the mini-mod I was more concerned about at this time. Sounds good, should be ready for when I get back from holidays then!
