    Default Naffatun - General killers

Playing as the turks. I prepared extensively for mongol invasion. DSL and ottoman infantry the most, cause I prepared to defend castles and bridges where cavalry wouldn't be most useful. To add flavour I added one or two unit of naffatuns to each stack. As we know, half the strength of the mongols is in their generals. So, naturaly I did my very best to kill him very quicly. First there was a siege. I was defending Mosul. Gate was breached, and all of there cavalry stormed in. I ordered all my archers (4-6 ottoman infantry) and a single unit of naffatuns to shoot at the general. After a while I saw a cinematic that a mongol general was hit with a ceramic pot filled with fiery liquid and killed. He must have been hit with dozens of arrows, but it was naffatuns that killed him.

Next turn, fresh mongol army besieges Mosul. Again was their general killed by naffatuns.

Encouraged, I used naffatuns at my bridge battles, positioned them really close to the bridge. Again, naffatuns kill mongol general. He was under heavy arrow fire (4 ottoman infantry and 4 HA) but that didn't kill him.

In the end, all mongol generals that were killed in a battle (ie not assasinated) were killed by naffatuns, 5-6 of them.

Passive AI bug allowed me to confirm this. Timurid general (faction leader) tried to charge, but stoped at the last minute, and was just standing really close to my defensive line. I moved 1 unit of naffatuns and ordered them to fire. Within a couple of volleys, their general was down from 63 to 20 men (I play on huge), killed and the rest of the unit routed.

So, a very, very easy way to get rid of those nasty 9, 10 command stars mongol generals in a battle...

Ahhh... I remember fondly the STW bridge battles with the Thunder Bombers at bridges. Enemy trying to press hundres across, my single Korean Guard holding firm. Thunder Bombers moving up... BOOM!!!! And litterally the entire enemy army broke with horrendous losses. Something like 100 kills in a single volley.

Same happened in MTW with the Naphta (though the small size was a pain, it felt nice as well)... Great for protecting bridges and gates.

Ay, I've too come to realize how powerful the Naffatuns are. They make fantastic wall defenders, as they absolutely devastate any unit trying to climb ladders or push forward a ram.

Yep, every hit is a kill. That is why they are so useful against heavily armed 2 HP targets like generals.
