Map information

Is there anyway to have the mini map update with new map information periodically without turning fog of war off? Perhaps after I initially make contact with them and secure map information it can be updated every year or so?

I don't want to be able to see enemy troop movements but I'd like to watch the progression of the different factions, without having to constantly send out diplomats to beg for updates from stubborn map information hording jerks who live halfway across the known world.

No, this is hardcoded. I recommend heavy use of spies standing around the capitals of surrounding regions.

You could toggle_fow and turn off "follow enemy movements" in the options.
