Do the following persons show up at all in Single Player Campaign Mode?


-Vlad Tepes (The Impaler, aka Dracula.)
-Bohemond (The famous Norman General of the First Crusade.)
-El Cid



The reason I ask is that when I unlock the Byzantines finally, I would like to try to bribe at least one of them into the Byzantine millitary (especially if Bohemond shows up during the years 1095-1096 like he did in the history books, all though, he lead an earlier attack on Byzantium earlier in the 1080's as well). I often wondered how different history would've been if Byzantium had succeeded in buying off Bohemond and came to his aid at Antioch, forcing him to uphold his oath of fealty. Plus, to add a twist, if the Emporer had married him to Anna Commena, who in turn would attempt a coup on the next emporer in the early 1100's. Anyone who read on Bohemond knows that he seeked gold and land during his life and tried to marry into money (which he did by marrying a daughter of the King of France, Phillip The Fat, I think). It would not take a strech of the imagination to imagine him marrying into Byzantine royalty instead of the court of France. Plus, if things had gone different, who's to say that he and Anna had not ended up sharing the Byzantine crown? However, this is just sheer speculation.

El Cid is the general at the garison in Valencia down in Spain. Pretty decent garrison there too almost a half a stack.

I suppose El Cid would make a good second place prize. How hard is he to bribe? So far, all of my attempts at bribery in my HRE Campaign have failed outright. :(

El Cid is in a castle when the game starts.

Bohemond... he's not an ancillary that I know of and I have not seen him on the map- don't know.

El Cid is practically impossible to bribe... If you search on his name you shold find a thread where a guy did the impossible and got him. I will not tell how, but it was not easy.

Vlad the Impaler is certainly in. He is a nasty ancilliary you can get, adds a lot of Dread and bonus against Muslims. I wonder why... He is not easy to get though.

Bohemond is not in I think. A shame really. One wuold expect him to be part of the Sicily faction, or at least an ancilliary to be found in southern Italy and Sicily.

I never managed to bribe him either.

A bonus against Muslims makes sense. As a Prince of Wallachia, Vlad held back the expansion of the Ottoman Empire... they were his sworn enemies. He was also imprisoned as a political hostage by the Ottomans when he was young, and the legend has it that he picked up his taste for cruelty and torture as a result of that experience.

I think the guy cheated to bribe El Cid. He's married and in a settlement. This is super hard. I think that person moved him out of the settlement and added traits to El Cid to make it easier as well as making an uber diplomat.

If he was unmarried, marrying a princess to him would be an ideal solution (esp. since the Spanish start with 2).

Sorry, that was something I wasn't aware of myself until fairly recently. I should have known that folks here would know more about Vlad Tepes than the vampire myths.

One of the things I want to do at some point in M2TW is try role-playing a Hungarian campaign as Vlad; holding off or conquering the Byzantines and Turks, and of course aiming for high dread ratings with all generals. It's a bit off-putting that he's in the game as an ancillary instead of a family member, but maybe that's better anyway, since you can't control lines of inheritance or family member names. If he shows up as an ancillary I'll just pretend he's a body double to confuse assassins... yeah, that's it.

Either use the unpacker to unpack all files, and then search for the export_descr_ancillaries.txt file, or just download the Data text files (the links is in a topic in the Learning To Mod forum IIRC), and then look for that file.

Well El Cid's garrison is pretty big so I suppose it'd be pretty hard and expensive. Not to mention The computer, for me at least, usually never ever take bribes.

i dunno for you... but almost all ancilleries can't be moved from general to general or agent to agent... most of the times it says *with sound on* Can't Move There sofar ive only moved a few of the many ancilleries i had... and not because i didnt want to

Kewl...I never watched the retinues but i surely will. I want to have King Matthias as my faction leader for Hungary in 1456 (okay i am sure it won't happen) and get him Petrarca. Not good, Petrarca will betray him. That bastard. You cannot kill aniclliaries can you? :-)

marco polo follows my designated pope killer around... or rather he just watches him kill the pope over and over again. (well he did at any rate, sadly Hans the Killer died of old age a few turns back... i guess marco polo decided he'd go check china out)

as far as famous people in the game, i believe the family members of every faction at the start of the game are actual historical figures.
