Thread: Ship Glitch?

    Default Ship Glitch?

On several occasions I have marched my Crusade through France to the southern coast and hired mercenary galleys to transport my stack to Antioch (or wherever).

I select the ships and sail them off to their full range. I do this slowly so I can stop the ships if they look like they are going to run into another fleet. When I reach the end of my range I get a new green field which extends my range.

It is possible to get from Marseilles France to Antioch in 2 turns and land on the third.

Has anyone else experienced this? I can beat any Crusading Army to the Middle East using this method.

I'm not sure why this works it may be because I'm using mercenary galleys, but I've also experienced this with ships I've built but not always and not to the extent of my Crusading Fleet.

The crusade function of doubling your movement rate extends to the ships as well. However, the green area showing the limits of your movement on the map can only go so large, and the ships movement rate is higher than that area can show. So, you move to the edge, and it then shows you what is remaining. A similar thing happened in the Rome: Total Realism mod. Every point of command an admiral had gave his fleet +10% to movement. By the time you got a 5-star admiral his fleet would get +50% movement, and you would get the same thing. It would show you the base move, and once you got there it would show you the bonus move remaining.
