It's a flawed gem. The standout sequences are near the start, contained in the demo, and I truly enjoyed the game at that point. It's got a great script carried by some of the best acting I've heard in from my computer, and great atmosphere. But it really loses it about 2/3 of the way in, and the earlier freeform adventure style game in which your decisions made a difference evaporates in favour of a cliched, confused and above all linear sci-fi twist.
There are button-bashing sections, but they are generally short and work perfectly in the flow of the game.
