(Going to assume you know something about finding your way around the Windows filesystem using Explorer)

If you haven't already, download and install the v1.1 patch.

    1. Locate the folder where you installed M2TW. For me it's D:\Medieval II Total War\ , then look for a subfolder called \tools\, then \unpacker\ beneath that.

    2. Run the unpack_all.bat. Wait approximately 20349273049327 hours for this to complete.

    3. When it's done, go back to your D:\Medieval II Total War\, then look for the \data\ subfolder. DELETE THE FOLLOWING TWO FILES IMMEDIATELY!!!

    data\descr_geography_new.txt
    data\descr_geography_new.db

    4. In the \data\ subfolder, you should find your export_descr_units file, along with a slew of others. Don't forget to add the line --io.file_first to any of your shortcuts to launch the game, otherwise it'll bomb out.

    Happy modding!

Actually it won't bomb out, it will just ignore all those files you went to all that effort to unpack ;)
