    Default Lithuanian Cavalry

Ok. Heres something I wanna know. How many other people teched up to thesse? Oh and.. has anyone got them in all three provinces Livonia, Volinya, and Lituania?

I must admit.. they wern't spectacular. But I like the flavour they add. Besides they have the same model as Boyar and Polish Retaniers. Which is a good model.. and underused..

I suppose they have their uses.....but for mine, the effort required to produce them is a bit hard to justify.....I suppose it really depends what faction you are playing, and whether they fill a whole in your overall cavalry arsenal...

In MTW/VI the Lithuanian cavalry is perhaps the most useless unit. They are worse than any other medium or heavy cavalry, and obsolete by the time you can actually tain them. I do not think any faction really needs them.
In MedMod however, depending on the faction you play with, they tend to have their uses.

Considering that I like long campaigns, usually tech up all provinces and like to use as much differnet units as possible, I'm quite sure that I've gotten them in all three provinces. But I've reduced the building requirements nowadays though.

They're certainly the the units that gives least compared to the building requirements, but they aren't that bad unit in itself.

Most useless unit price goes to Mamluk handgunners.

I only use them if I bribe the rebels located in Lithuania and Livonia early in the game. Otherwise I don't really see the point. They are not really better than mounted seargeant and their tech requirements are about the same as chivalric knights ...

    That's all very true....

But considering before the Vicking Invasion the only melee cavalry Russia can get is the Steepe Cavalry... it's a somewhat viable option. But, still it is dissapointing. It takes nearly 30 yrs to get them.. They're quite disappointing.. But I can build them now so I do. Maybe after they get done conguering Europe and the Middle East they'll have enough valour to make up for it.

I suppose all my veteran Steepe cavalry would beat my new Lithuanians anyways. Ah well.. I like all my horses..

Yeah, Lithiuania Cavalry is one of those units I rarely bothered with. I could live with their recruitment cost, but their building requirements are simply too high. Caravel will hopefully get a chance to rebalance them in his Pocket Mod, but fixing bugs and tweaking other stats are his priority at the moment.

    Linthuanian Cavalry:
    Charge 6, Melee 2, Defense 3, Armour 4

    Polish Retainers:
    Charge 8, Melee 3, Defense 3, Armour 4

    Feudal Knights:
    Charge 8, Melee 4, Defense 3, Armour 4

    Polish Retainers:
    Charge 8, Melee 3, Defense 3, Armour 4

    Armenian Heavy Cavalry:
    Charge 8, Melee 3, Defense 3, Armour 4

As you can see, Lithuanian Cavalry are by far the worst and with the exception of Feudal Knights take the most teching up. They do need either stat improvement or a bulding dependency change to something much more reasonable.

Haven't played MTW in a long time but IIRC, Avar nobles can be built from Moldavia which is reasonably close. That unit has quite low build reqs and is amazingly powerful.

    Avar Nobles:
    Requirements: HORSE_BREEDER2, ARMOURER
    Stats: Charge 6, Melee 3, Defence 5, Armour 7(!?), Honour(Morale) 4

Only catch is they are only available in Early.

I like to think of my Russian republic as more of a collation of people. So just for flavour the Lithuanians have some appeal.

Of course for tactical purposes... there isn't much use for them there. Though I would bet they are slightly better than my overworked Steppe Cavalry. Although better than my vets who have won countless battles... unlikely.

I'm still gonna use them cause in vanilla MTW it's the only armoured cav for Russia. I guess it's just one of the drawbacks I signed up for when I picked my faction. U_U. Ah well. In the mean time Livonia and Lithuania make Lithuanian cav and Volynia wont be until the games over...

I still do not see the point of building Lithuanian Cavalry. Even in vanilla MTW if one plays with the Russians, for the approximately the same requirements one can get Boyars, and they are much better as armored melee cavalry. The only downside of the boyars compared to the Lithuanian cavalry is the cost, but if you need cheap, fast cavalry then all you really need is steppe cavalry.
When playing with the Russians in vanilla MTW my far greater concern was the lack of any decent spearmen.

agreed. Vanilla MTW really seemed to have forgotten some stuff for Russia. Spears and melee cav seem a bit lacking.

Ah well. Have MTW 2 now. Hoping Tsar's Guard cav can help me forget about the horid Lithuanians....
