    Lightbulb Timurids: Banner, heraldry & defection options.

    Hi All !

    Does anyone know anything about the Timurid banner in M2:TW ?
    Where does it originate and what basis does it originate from ?
    What do the 3 dots mean ?

    I found it peculiar that the Timurid main banners are devoid of the crescent.







    I think I'm going to defect (lol) from the Turks to the Timurids, the black and red is graphically BEAUTIFULL and scary face masks to top it off.... AND they have Turkomans too !!! Can it get any better ? Actually it can, they have KHAN's GUARD ! ...and Panziert Elefant Artillerie !

    Everything I love... horse archers, lancers, and gunpowder !

    BUT they are not playable. even if you haxxor to make them playable, it has the downside of not being able to play out the battles yourself.

    You can play out the battles, you just have to get the right mod. I think that Regnum Deli Sandwich mod or whatever it's called works.

    They are playable, and without a mod, as long as you do things properly (i think :P )

    What with the descr.txt files? i tried it that way and I tried to play Timurids in Grand Campaign (I ended up in tears BTW), you can play them in Custom Battles though (YES!)

    They are'nt so dark actually, much less than the Mongols who are really the Sith! But in MTW yeah they are le dark side. Everything east of Constantinople is le dark side ... BUAAHAHAHHA !

    They are playable, now how did I do it ?

    I think what I did is:
    1. Loaded the MedManager (check D/L list).
    2. Installed Regnum Deli using MedManager.
    3. Choose to play as Timurids, launch campaign.
    4 Then save and exit the campaign.
    5. Forward to like 1500 using MedManager.

    I'm sure there's an easier way but IIRC that's what I did. All all the battles are playable. If you are using the hotseat method that might be different but I did'nt do it that way.

    There is an easier way to play the Mongols or Timurids without modding - Epistolary Richard explained it in a thread of that name a while back. The explanation is now in the FAQ, together with the link.

    Ah yes, that's true. That is the "hotseat method".

    Now there is one big mstake in that method outlined there. That mistake is in the FAQ and the original thread. sapi has already pointed this out in another thread, can't remember which one that was. I also discovered this myself when trying to use that method.

    The mistake is that console is disabled in multiplayer, and the hotseat method to play the Timurids requires the console to be enabled.

    Essentially if you do the hotseat method, you are using multiplayer parameters. The FAQ and the original thread needs to be amended to include instructions on how to enable the console in multiplayer.

    There is one other thing that favors MedManager over this method. When you start the camp as Timurid or Mongol you have a pathetic little army, which can be considered a scout force. In reality what this little army does is force you to settle down and build cities, rather than storming with your MASSIVE horse archer armies ! With MedManager you can forward the time easily so that you have the "starting" Mongol Horde with the insane dread generals and all, and you start your camp with that.

    I think you can do this using console and hotseat as well.

    Just reread the thread and FAQ and you can forward to the appearance of the faction using hotseat-console, but of course, for this to work the console has to be enabled.
