    Default Years to Turns equation?

This might be a really dumb question.

I play on all default settings, including the timescale, and my campaign display lists turns not years. I'm trying to relate info on the FAQ listed in years to what turn number it will be for me.

With default settings, is it the same in RTW, where 2 turns = 1 year? Which would mean that Year = 1080 + 2*(turn number)? And therefore Turn Number = (Year - 1080)/2. Is that right, or does the new M2TW timescale thing mess with this equation?

I'm trying to figure out what turn number 1370 is, i.e. the Timurid invasion.

Why don't you look in the events file. Timurid invasion is randomize between something like turn 160 and 163 IIRC.

It's in the descr_strat.txt file. There's a line that reads "timescale=2.0" when you first install the game. That's how many years pass per turn. Changing it to 1.0 will give you 1 year per turn (that's what I play) and 0.5 will give you the RTW scale of 2 turns per year. I've read that 0.25 is the smallest you can make it. There's another line in there that reads "Show_date_as_turns" or something similar. Deleting that line will make it display the actual current year instead of the turn number. Both of these changes won't affect a campaign in progress; you'd need to start a new campaign to have them work.

Or you could just open your faction summary scroll. Even with years displayed as turns in the main UI, the actual year is listed there if I'm not mistaken, next to "total provinces owned, battles won, battles lost, battles fought" etc...
Anything wrong ? Blame it on me. I'm the French.

I changed mine to 1.0 for 1 turn - 1 year. I find it more realistic. Takes longer to get to the gunpowder age or experience the Mongols. I dont know if thats a plus or not. Depends on your personal view. I dont find it a negative personally. I was reading another thread where it was discussed how changing it to .5 or .25 would greatly unbalance things within the game mechanics. I can see why it might. In the default setting there isnt a problem with overpopulation but changing it to 1 turn = 1year does require you to to ocassionally wipe out your city's population to keep population growth under control although this isnt as bad as RTW IMO. So far I have found this problem to be only in the MiddleEast territories where the population starts off predominately Muslim. This is the only negative (IMO) I have found so far.
