Can anyone please tell me which file contains a list of all the units in game and their stats. (I am aware of the spreadsheets). Need access to make some modifications.

the descr_units file is the one you are looking for. Either unpack it or poke around in the mod forums. There's a zip that you can download there which contains this file.

Funny thing is I unpacked, but I don't see this file, maybe the unpacking was incomplete ? I have downloaded the file as soon as it was released only now I don't know where to put it (data I suppose). I guess I could just run the unpacker again

Spreadsheets? What spreadsheets? I modify the export file directly.
The full name is export_descr_unit and it simply goes into your data folder.
