    Default An Ode to Highlanders

There can only be one - superunit, that is.

Playing a brutal Scottish short campaign (v1.1, not mods), I've found Highlanders to be mediocre.

    Except for wall combat.

At which they are animals. Possibly because of the 2H bug, they butcher English dismounted knights. But they also do the same to Dismounted Feudal Knights, which aren't 2H. I suspect the armor bonus does most of the work, but these guys are nuts. Especially with the wonky wall combat that pits the 3 guys in front against the entire enemy formation. They just carve through them.

And they're cheap compared to DFKs or Noble Swordsmen.

Anyone with similar Mel Gibson experiences?

PS: The Highland Nobles are great, too.

I always thought 2h men were good wall defenders. I remember the Chosen Axemen from RTW were quite beastly up on the ramparts.

@Alexander The Pretty Good (the name made me laugh...) Yea, it has happened to me before...except I was on the recieving end (as I tend to be...). A group of my DFK's were massacered by them...I believe a part of my sould died that day when Scotland captured London from me...
