Thread: Suddenly Battles are Skipping

    Default Suddenly Battles are Skipping

    All was fine until around turn 80 when i noticed everytime a computer faction attacked me the battles seem to be auto resolved without showing the dialog. Its getting annoying as now everytime a city gets attacked the only time i find out about it is after my turn begins when i notice that i dont have the city anymore.

    Im not sure what it could be as i have reinstalled M2TW twice but it still skips when the AI attacks me. Is there a setting i have missed or something?

    Maybe you changed the preferences file to play a hotseat campaign?

    If that's the case, check for the original preferences file and replace your current one...

    I thought it might be to do with the medieval2.preference.cfg file so i uninstalled, deleted the entire M2TW folder then reinstalled. But no luck.

    In my preferences file the only place i can see reference to hotseat are these lines:

    [multiplayer]
    hotseat_autoresolve_battles = 0
    hotseat_disable_console = 0
    hotseat_disable_papal_elections = 0
    hotseat_save_prefs = 0
    hotseat_update_ai_camera = 0
    hotseat_validate_diplomacy = 1

    And autoresolve is off, unless its not this file im supposed to be looking at?

    Those files are fine....

    hmmm

    to doubley make sure, instead of zero and ones, put TRUE and FALSE.

    M2TW still recognizes TRUE and FALSE.

    mmm... those seem to be alright... are you sure that you can't fight battles?

    Aren't you loosing cities to riots or troops to the plague in stead?

    Also if you have unpacked the game files and you have version 1.0, you will experience erratic behaviour...

    Thanks for your replys :)

    I tried changing the 0 and 1's in the prefs file to FALSE and TRUE but no change. Im certain that the cities are being lost in battles, this is what happens:

    My cities of Florence and Bologna are under siege from Milans armys> When i press end turn i see the army outside of Florence walk into the city and take control. No combat dialog appears. When my next turn begins i get a faction announcement that the family member that was in the city, died in battle. The next turn the exact same thing happens in Bologna.

    Earlier i did make changes to the preferences file in order to try out the Mongols, i followed the instructions in this thread.

    But i didnt save my game, and right after i reverted back to my old prefs file. Since then i've reinstalled the game twice so surely it cant be that?

    It looks like somehow the game is stuck on hotseat mode

    Iv uploaded the save game if anyone wants to have a look, maybe iv missed something really obvious!

    I loaded up your save and hotseat mode is on - you can't disable this without starting a new campaign :( You should be fine in the future.

    The giveaways were the enemy cities displaying (Computer, At War) rather than just (At War) and the hotseat console being active.

    EDIT: To everyone else, dont' open the save - it enables hotseat mode for you too :(

    To fix the issue, open the preferences file and add 'playable = 0' under the multiplayer section.

    I'm not sure if this will effect games in progress...
