    Default Spartiai Hoplitai model bug

I have no idea if this has been posted yet; normally, I would try to see if it is already known, but when I looked at the number of bug threads I immediately freaked out. No way in hell am I wading through all that.

I was testing the Spartiai Hoplitai in a custom game to see how they preformed against regular classical hoplitai, when I noticed this:

The spear is backwards. That, or the Spartiai had a very strange style of fighting.

Again, if it is know, I apologise, but I was trying to help.

Also, he sword is visible when the spear is lowered, but I seem to recall that being an incurable bug.

It's not a bug (or at least I don't think it is). I thought that that was a bug when I first saw the Successor Light Cavalry, but all Greek units (without Phalanx) have double ended spears. If you look more closely then you will see that.

The real bug is lower down in the pic. The spartiate Hoplitia carries his sword and spear in the same hand at the same time. I believe the butspike poking is intended.

Actually its 2 bugs you have here...

1st the sword and the spear.
2nd the the long part of the spear is in the back instead of the front.
---yes the spear did have 2 points, but it was held 6 feet from the hand out, and 2 feet from the hand back.
---also the front tip was longer than the back tip of the spear.

Look the following pics, thats how the spear should be held by ALL Classical Hoplites.

SEE the lenght of the spear.

p.s Is there anyway EB can get a Spartan Royal Guard unit???? There was only one unit at any one time (maybe 2 'cause Sparta had to kings, but I don't think that was the case in EB's time frame)

on the subject of Classical Hoplites... but not related to this thread.

I think if you put them in HOLD position, they fight better. I need to run some more tests, but I has Merc hoplites hold off a Carthagenian general, and in a test the Spartans held off the Gaestrae preatty good.

From our latest internal build patch: here is a quick shot of Spartiates and Macedonian hoplitai haploi fighting it out.

Finally nice to see hoplitia haplio without thos huge pikes. Was getting quite irritating seeing them slaughter hoplites en mass. Beautiful.
