Personally id perfer to kill in the name of zoroster. So the pope is chilling in a fairly large army. And im all like i can take him.Now i would like to slay him.but i beleive that this is not tactically sound.Mostly i wanna hear the ingame sayings when you kill a general.Itll be like holy christ you have killed the pope! And ill be all like Wheres you pope mobile now!

it says you have killed the enemy king...he also disappears from the pope tab like when he is killed by an assassin.

So you mean the Pope would appear as a Great Cross or something? That'd be funny.

In combat, he's just a regular king. Shoot him down with arrows, bolts, or siege to show him that he ain't divinely protected.

I still think the best two ways to kill the pope are:
A= Build a vast quantity of cannons and blast his holy ass to oblivion
B= Create a vast christian army soley made up of knights templers or knights hospitaller, and see whos hollyer :D

What is everyone's problem with the pope? Okay, I know that lots of people think religion is stupid, and the pope is just some guy who wants power and lots of money. But there are still some religious people (like me) who get offended by such posts. Sorry for my "serious" post, I dont want to start a debate on religion and stuff.

Your probably right...BUT this is not about "it is being serious or not". For some religious people these kind of jokes are like when you would make fun of someones mom's death. Maybe i am a little bit overreacting the thing...sorry 'bout that. (look at my other posts than you can see that I am not this bit**y, just about this topic) I really care about my religion and really respect the pope (and John Paul II even much more), and I know what some of the popes did in the medieval times...but let's not judge by this. I don't think we should argue about this in these forum...

I suppose it's because the game mechanics are such that the Pope is constantly telling you not to do the things you want to be doing at some point in the game, and that you can't deal with him the same way you usually deal with your in-game opponents. Nobody likes a nagging parent figure, in particular if that nagging is obviously biased against you as the Pope just got elected from your enemy faction... the Pope is not a "fair" element, so people will draw pleasure from getting to chase him around the battlefield.

Unfortunately during the Medieval times and particularly the Renaissance, the worst Popes were "just some guys who wanted power and lots of money", so the depiction isn't even that far off. Even if the pope was fervently religious and not outright bribable, he could be very, very interested in his Earthly power.. consider Innocentius III who happily wielded excommunication or the threat thereof to arrange things his way.

If I were were Catholic I'd still have to admit that the papacy left a lot to be desired back then, and that the church has come a long way since to reach the days and style of JP-II.

Fair enough, despite the fact that I never have problems with him, never got excommunicated, I always have a good relation with him, sometimes he keeps me back when it is actually good he does it., it is very rare when he wants something that makes me angry. BUT still I don't think anyone should speak about the leader of the Catholic Church in a tone people do. But i don't wanna argue about that. This topic is closed for me.

I don't doubt that, but don' judge an "office" by his history, but by it's current "office-holder". There were a lot of REALLY bad popes and a lot of very religious thrustworthy and pious popes.

I totally agree. John Paul the Second is a Saint without doubt, everyone could look up on him. It is really said that not all popes were like him. But popes -despite earthly protectorates of God (I believe it - and don' care if you don't) are human - with everything that comes with it

    ^^ I suppose i shouldn't mention that i have a habit of killing popes (in game) :P

Seriously though, what you believe is entirely up to you and no one here is going to challenge or insult that by referring to the real life pope rather than the in game one.

I say this post either be destroyed since EVERYONE knows that the Pope is treated as a king, or moved to Backroom/Frontroom so we can mock religion in the good old Orgah way.

    P.S.
Thus Al-Salim did slay the Pope on the fields of Rome, and God did open a chasm and devour Al-Salim.

    Have you just been dumped?

I ask because it's usually something like that which causes outbursts like this, needless to say I dissagree completely.
