Thread: Mongol Spawning

    Default Mongol Spawning

I have a quick question. I know that they come in three waves, and also that they come in four locations. North and south of the Caspian, Baghdad and Yerevan (?). But do they spawn where they have the least military???

The reason I'm asking is that I was playing with Egypt (H/M, 1Turn/year). And I was preparing for the mongols for 20 turns (as I heard all the horror tales on the forums of them being invincible) :) . Anyways by the time they arrived I have stopped production of buildings completely, all my money goes to upkeep. My territory now spans the whole middle east with Turkey being extinct, also up till Bulgar. I have I stack in Constantinapole my most western province and a half stack running around chasing rebels.

I have 9 (!!!) elite stacks of Mamluks, Mamluk archers, catapults and infantry waiting at the Baghdad river crossing. Then suddenly they arrive... in Sarkel!!!

Cheat I know, but I reloaded. Not wanting to waste all the effort I put into this. They respawn there again. Then south of the caspian. I loaded at least ten times and they NEVER spawned in that location, but all the others!!! WTF!!!

I'm desperate so I start a game with Russia. I don't want to get into the same details. I have 5 stacks and the mongols spawn in Baghdad!! Reload, Baghdad again. This is really killing me... I just want to fight them. Can I modify to add were they should spawn? Is it possible to change it for an existing game? Do the second wave come from the same dierction as the first always?

Kind of yeah, but I think it picks the location furthest from you especially if your either Russian or Turkish then they will more likely go south or north of the caspian respectively.

In my latest Turkish game the first wave is to the north, and allows me a fair amount of time to track them and move units north and train more. I set up my cities and castles with ballista towers and I have lots of heavy infantry ready for them at bridges and in forts to the north of Tsibli (sp?) but real troop production only once my spy picked them up and saw them heading towards me.

I currently control nearly all the middle east (only 1 eygptian castle left) and greece (1 byzantian caslte left) and all of turkey including the 3 islands that end of the Med. So the mongols had changed my focus from expansion to defence.

If you are really pissed off and just want to fight them, use the teleporting cheat to move all the mongol stacks to where you are rather than starting a new game.
