    Default Siege bug or feature?

three times now i've been sieging a castle and about half way through the battle timer I received the message that the I've lost the battle as if I've run out of time.

Now all three times I've still been fighting on the outskirts of the castle.

Is this a feature? Do I need to get "So far" by a certain point before the battle is declared lost?

Can anyone enlighten me on this ??

    Thanks!

There is a certain time where within the siege must be succesful (30-45min? Depends on castle type?). However there is an option that turns off the battle time limit and then you have to defeat the enemy!

It can be turned off during a campaign somewhere in the option menu if I'm correct, as well at the start of a campaign there's a box on the right with a textline besides it, where it says "Battle Time Limit" or something.

It's an option, in main menu->options-> game, IIRC. You have battle timer turned on.

I do have the timer turned on but I am loosing the batlle BEFORE the timer expires.

The hourglass is only getting down about half way (or less).

This has only happened to me while performing a seige - never on the open battle field - and only while lingering outside the castle walls.

it's also only happened to me since installing the patch. I have no mods installed.

    maybe its just me?

    Sorry, misunderstood.

I have no idea, as to what the issue might be. Maybe there's a seperate time for a siege ? (sounds ridiculous though)

all three times iv'e been severely outnumbered and did nothing other than sit there pelting the walls with catapults or cannons.

i thought maybe there was a penalty for, not "capturing the gate" or some such level of advancement, after set amount of time.

Did you run out of ammo? When you're assaulting a fortification, you have to have a method of getting over or through the walls. If all you have is artillery and you run out of ammo before blowing a hole through all the walls or gates, you lose, instantly. If all you have are rams and the last one is destroyed before you knock down the gates, you lose. If all you have are siege towers and you get them all destroyed before getting over the last wall, you lose. Ladders can't be destroyed, but if you lose all your infantry before getting over the last wall you'll probably lose.

It’s a definitely possibility I've run out of ammo as I was pretty much hanging back and trying to inflict as much mayhem as possible beofre attempting a rush on the castle.

I did have have the gate down but perhaps the game "mistakenly" calulates I have no chance to win since I did not capture it yet.

I'll have to test that out.

    Thanks!
